I Need Help On How Elemental Damage Works

So I went on the Warframe wiki and www that certain elements and combos show that they have +75% or so on certain things but does this do damage only that thing (example: magnetic damage does +75% damage to shields but can it still damage flesh?) I don't have a simulacrum yet so I can't test this out #noobproblems

damage will do damage to all things.....but +75% deals 75% extra and -75% deals 75% less so know your damage types and who youre gonna be fighting

If you shoot a 100 damage bullet with magnetic damage modded onto it, and it hit a shield, it will do 175 damage(assuming the damage bonus is +75%). I don't know the exact damage resistance, but asssume you shoot that same bullet but it hits basic flesh instead(with a damage penalty vs. flesh at -25%), then the bullet will only deal 75 damage. Elemental types don't make it so ONLY magnetic does damage vs. what it's good against, but if it has a bonus it will do bonus damage, and less damage if it has a penalty.
