Mod Shimmer Gone For Those Who Have Not Picked Up

Since the last update it seems the mods do not shimmer. They used to do this indicating someone in your squad still has not picked it up. Now when I pick up the mods I see, they are completely gone.

 

At first I didn't mark them because I thought I was the last to pick them up. But then I saw others begin to glow with the amber hue like it does when you pick up a mod. So the mod was not scooped up by all but it completely disappears even if only a single squad mate grabbed it.

 

Can this be returned? Or is this part of a new mechanic that requires one of the new mods before it is visible to us?

I noticed this as well. And you can't mark the mod as mod after you picked it up. It just shows waypoint. You have to mark it before picking up. Not cool in a team based game, where you're supposed to be friendly and mark the mods for all to pick up.
