Minigame

I think it would be very interesting to add in an optional minigame, of you on the delivery glider(or whatever that ship we see at extraction/intro is called).

The concept would be simple enough, battling through whatever space defenses on the way in to a mission, whilst being strapped in safely to the bottom of the glider. This would rely on your primary and secondary weapon, and perhaps any relevant frame skills.

Control of the glider itself would be limited/non-existent.

There would be a "safe" point at the start, and players could just completely skip the minigame and start regularly.

However, if they opt in to the mini-game, their glider goes along a route towards a goal, and the player(s) attempting to cross the defenses without getting their glider killed. There would be a series of checkpoints, each corresponding to an actual in-map starting room.

If their glider takes too much damage, they're forced into an emergency insertion at the closest checkpoint, and the alert is sounded(if it hasn't been already).

If they successfully reach the final checkpoint, they insert at the final checkpoint room, with no alert sounded(unless it has been sounded already).

Each of the checkpoint rooms would be more advantageous than the last--closer to the actual mission objective, and with more loot available inside of it, with the final one being within a single room distance of the actual mission objective.

As this is entirely optional, it could be skipped by players completely, but it would also allow the adventurous a chance to see what they can discover or uncover by attempting it.

For added fairness(and to keep things from getting too messy), players should have the option of being re-deployed at the furthest reached checkpoint when the last glider lands. That way, the group can stick together, and there's no innate penalty for not attempting to glide.
