Just look at how we react every time a threat is rising against us. We infiltrate/sabotage/destroy Techs, Laboratories, Prototypes, execute/capture important Person on a daily job basis, every time since our new awakening the moment the pendulum of balance swings against our favour we always made sure the weight is corrected.

That was a U2 spy plane.  The SR-71 was never shot down.  Edit: I had previously missed the reference you were making.

Update:  I just found something interesting when reading the wiki's corpus entry.  

 

The official website states that the Corpus are "rarely seen by others and are better known for the robot proxies that serve for them."
