New star map

i<m all kinds of confused with this latest update (and i<m sure i<m not the only one) relearning things is a bit of a pain but i can roll in the name of progress.

my question is this, how does this new chart work. i can't tell the missions I've done apart from those i haven't? i have blue flowy lines between nodes in some places, black ones in others... some nodes will open description windows and others do nothing, i scoured the internet to try and find a sort of symbol legend to help me out but no luck. in the old one you knew you had the node unlocked because it was clear and not grainy.
