Eightlock
Right now it's really hard to tell the difference between damage and exp. I don't think it would be that much work to change the color to a nice shade of some color other than white. What do you guys think?
Haldark
It'd be a decent quality of life change. But even then we don't know how much exp we need to level to lvl X so why does it even show us how much exp we get. To me it just feels like, "Oh you killed something have more numbers!" I mean- I love numbers; I use a rainbow gorgon with multishot for a reason, but still!
Lluid
Good idea. And a different font or something that makes a clear difference. And what about showing elemental damages in different hues ? They should remain very pale, but still : - normal damage in brown, - fire in red, - freeze in white, - electrical in blue, - poison in green (not sure if it's comparable to other damages though) And critical hits could simply be bigger and/or in a more saturated hue ? I think we can all agree that this game needs colorful number confetti.
Xepharyx
It could just be like TF2, in which the numbers are yellow by default, then change on crits and other effects. I think that, while elemental colors are pretty, the game could be rapidly swallowed up with damage numbers. But still, I agree with the OP in that exp should be different than damage, or even just removed from the target and placed on or near the gun itself, Dead Space-style.
