How do explosions work with headshots now?

So I heard long ago that Tonkor (and other grenade launchers) got "nerfed" in the aspect of Argon Scope because the explosions didn't triggered headshots anymore. Yesterday I decided to test it myself (because there has been a long time since I didn't use it) and they where correct, I wasn't able to trigger Argon Scope any single time. So, how do explosions work with headshots now? And the Argon Scope Build for Tonkor isn't viable anymore, right? What do you recommend?

Aoe blasts can't trigger headshots anymore . 

A non argon scope build is still pretty viable though . Try bladed rounds or prime bane mods. This'll give you best value I think .

Explosive weapons can still get headshots; they just no longer get them all the time, even when they explode at the enemy's feet.

Using just a sonicor (modded for Blast, no other weapons with me, Frost frame), I complete the 10 headshots task during a mission today.  Just kept deliberately firing it over their head, the explosion triggered as the round was above them, and eventually got the ten I needed.  So, yes, having personally tested it, I'll say that explosions can still trigger headshots.
