Mission objective items, such as Datamass, can now be carried in and out of the Rift Plane. However! Having not actually verified this I believe they simply fall from the rift if you release them and you'll have to return to material plane to pick them up again. I tried editing my first reply to say this but it wouldn't give me anywhere to type additional words. Weird. Not aware of any items requiring pickup in spies though.
