Does the Stalker 'time out'?

So I got the Stalker taunt and he spawned as usual, however since I was Ivara I was up on my own ripline stealthed so I had free hits without having him know where I am (my Aksomati had 100% suppress so that was nice too, but generally I used my Dread against him which was silent anyway).

But I couldn't tell whether I killed him or he timed out, he 'knelt down' with some health left and disappeared saying Imma go unpunished this time. Does he time out? Cuz I kinda took my time with him, and since he had some HP left over when he left I can't tell if I killed him or not.

I did get two Fieldrons though which was nice

That's the default thing he does, once you get his health down to a certain point, he kneels and leaves. Or if he defeats the targeted the player, also kneeling and leaves.

Only time you can 'kill' the Stalker is when you output far more damage than the buffer he has, resulting in his ragdoll.
