Plains Mission abort results in inconsistency?

When I abort missions on POE due to a bug, mistake, or some other priority, it results in being picked up by the orbiter. 

This for me creates an inconsistency or illogical game mechanic. Because why then would the warframes need to run or wing back to Cetus when the orbiter can pick us on every aborted mission? Pls correct me if I’m wrong or missing an explanation. 

I love the game and the POE update. I believe the system is a success, even made a topic to congratulate plague star and its level of attention and engagement. With every frame or wing I take, there’s something fun to do. 

Rarely abort missions but this inconsistency nags me when I do.
