In my case I could see a part of the planet I was orbiting, as well as a Grineer ship that happened to be passing by... Also, in the extractor menu, when clicking any in the list while a planet location is directly behind the extractor icon will immediately activate a mission. It seems that the extractor icons are set to to click through.
