I love the X-ray mods, and I think there are some other ways to move this mod forward:

1. Make containers and resources X-ray

2. Don't show yellow balls on the map for resources and mods I already picked up but my teammates haven't (or just don't show them on the map at all)

 

3. Possibly at higher levels place some text over resources or mods revealing what they are (although I believe resources and mods should be visually distinguishable just because seeing something rare or that you want is psychologically stimulating, this is why in many games rarer items look especially cool before they're acquired, purple names, neat artwork, etc., if rare mods looked especially badass people would be a little more enthralled for a moment while getting to it)
