Teamwork And Weaponry? Link Guns!

We totally need a UT2K4 style Link Gun rifle. Alone, it deals base damage, but if a fellow team member also has the gun, they link up with each other when either pointing directly at the other player or using RMB + aim with the player in view. Each link amplifies the beam/shot's strength by the formula linkedFirepower * (1 + (numberofLinks / 10)).

The linkedFirepower variable would be determined by the total base damage from the linked weapons. Serration would still apply.

The numberofLinks variable would be determined by the number of linking weapons, the actual firing weapon would not count.

So if the base damage were 20 per shot/tick and no player had Serration, it would stack as follows:

Unlinked:

20 * 1 = 20 damage per shot/tick

2 players linked:

20 * 2 = 40 * (1 + (1 / 10)) = 44 damage per shot/tick

3 players linked:

20 * 3 = 60 * (1 + (2 / 10)) = 72 damage per shot/tick

4 players linked:

20 * 4 = 80 * (1 + (3 / 10)) = 104 damage per shot/tick

The advantages for something like this would be amplified power, at the cost of the number of weapons available to fire. Could be fun to use in some situations though, or when you're up against a few heavies.

Then again, who actually wants CoOp play in Warframe.

Before I got to the "juicy" part of the post, I was thinking of having a sort of beam weapon where the beams link up in mid-air if the same enemy is being targeted, resulting in more damage than if they were simply fired on their own, but I suppose this way could work too.

Anyways, since I've exhausted my supply of +1s, take a figurative +1 from me until they regen tomorrow.

This idea seems like

Ghost Busters and Power Rangers together.

Sounds like a good weapon but too much disadvantages.

Of course every play wants the most damage possible

And with this Concept Weapon the only way to do that is SEARCH and BEG for the other 3 Party members to equip this weapon.

Other than that you are forced to go with the base damage of 20 (with out mods) (with mods) You can only increase the Crit Chance and Crit Damage which probably would only grant you 20 x the crit up to maybe 40-80 Damage. That is probably only if you have 30 Mod Cap may 60.

Also to address the mechanics on this.

When Beams Link up it's to target (1) thing. If the people are close to each other all shooting at different enemies. My question is; How would they link up? Taking away all 3 other people beam shot to the other party member just for one enemy would more than likely make the other players a tad upset.

Now if you mean.

Player 3 RMB At

Player 1 Who RMB at

Player 4 who then RMB at

Player 2 (To get the max possible damage) Who then chooses ( 1 ENEMY TO FIRE AT ) would take way to long.)

Also factoring in everyone will be consistingly moving.

Also factoring when facing high level enemies. If No one is Linked then all base damage would cause 20 or less damage (with out mods) (with mods) then it'd probably be 20 damage.

~ But now if I do get into your concept by suggesting my thoughts on this.

Change the Unlinked Base Damage with the 4 Linked Base Damage.

Having the Unlinked Base Damge at 80.

Then having more people with this weapon (in a certain range of each other) could increase the damage total.

Meaning Like the Sentinel that is Deployed by a Corpus that links enemies together to increases their Shield Recharge.

If you take that ground concept and add to this weapon it would mean.

Each Beam Gun would act like this chain linked sentinel (but in gun form)

When 2 or more players are within range of each other the link would form increases the damage of the weapon.

Upon leveling up the ranking at certain rank levels the Range would increase. Making the range of each individual player the ability to move slightly further away. MEANING

Player 3 can only be 5m away

Player 1 can only be 3m away

Player 2 can be 10m away

Player 4 can be 7m away

How that would work is

Even though Player 2 has the best range he/she may only have the chance to link up to someone that has the same weapon that enters within that 10m radius. Get what I mean? I do not mean Once Player 2 makes the Link to Player 3 that it links everyone up because Player 2 Range.  That would mean only Player 2 and Player 3 would have the Link damage of 2 Players combinded.

The break down of this, Player 2 can link up to Player 1 3 and 4 if they are all within the 10m radius allowing Player 2 to have max damage,

While the rest of the players have to walk within range with each other. But because Player 2 is linked up to Player 1 3 and 4 the Three of them would have the X2 Damage because of the Linked of 2 people. Get what I mean now?

~

That is my suggestion based on yours only on how your weapon would be worked in a real situation if he had to be put into the game. Which makes the mechanics of it a lot easier. And the whole (RMB at a Certain player just to increase damage haha)

I'm pretty sure the mechanics would be the same as in ut2k4, P1 links P2 = Buffed damage

P1 + P2 + P3 > P4 would be same as P1 > P2 > P3 > P4

Would be a lot better.

For the future when quoting me or anyone please do not put in words in the quote that the original poster have not put down.

~

As for the link up his mechanics states ( The players must be AIMING at each other... Who in the gods name in the middle of a war wold all face each other while running jumping dodging in different location just to have one powerful weapon.)

If you take the Power Rangers and Ghost Buster Route.

Power Rangers have a chain Link that increases their fire power no matter who is firing.

Ghost Buster (for the best chance capturing a Ghost) they would have to CROSS LINK their beams/vacuums to increase the chance of capturing the ghost).

His approach is rather different than that, making people stray away from whats happening in front of them and around them just for the person who doesn't have to aim at a player to Aim at every single enemy for the increase damaged.

Also have to factor in (Sure their is team experience for weapon leveling) but if you get the kill your self increases the bonus of Experience gained. If someone is doing all the firing for you. All the time you could of been killing people gaining bonus experience would be at lost.

Now as for the you are pretty sure (Sure is a word for being unsure about something. It's a funny word I might say :D)

Played ut2k4 Understand the Mechanics yet this is not Ut2k4 this is Warframe thus coming up with a idea based on another game from the same company that the Head help make. CREATES Repetition. Doing the same old concepts with no new approach no new way of doing anything. Sticking with the old rather than Expounding upon it.

Never said his concept is bad just his Approach could of been better addressed.

Thanks for you small feedback upon my "snip"

For the future, when quoting anyone please remember that your word walls in quote will make the page even longer to read.

Thats why I replace it with "-snip-"

I see, acceptable. Yet you went off topic with this post... For the future make a On Topic Reply to the Topic at hand and Off Topic Reply. This is something you could of handled by Inboxing me with out posting on the thread.

On Topic: I still hold to my Mechanics on how this gun would work. Would need some changes if you would actually try to get this ingame.
