  1. Funny thing is, I'm not even that bothered by Baro. My post was a stand alone thread where I expressed my frustrations about the game. I tried to be as civil as possible since the Devs have to see a lot of passionate, sometimes inconsiderate posts. I know I'm guilty of taking part in that exercise from time to time. The thing is that the same passion you have for a game that allows you to escape whatever nonsense you have going on in your life, can also become a sharp blade when you feel you're not being appreciated. All the content DE puts out is amazing. My main problem is the amount of time you have to invest to get anywhere, the elimination of shortcuts to cut this time in half so you can focus on things outside of a video game, and the feeling that the game will never truly be fixed. All the content is great, but when you're being kicked from game whether it be a solo or group mission gets frustrating. Having a booster run out when you can't log on or start a mission is frustrating. Seeing a rare drop and then suddenly being disconnected is...you get the point.

And my connection is not to blame. It also can't be so isolated when a bunch of folks say the same thing during party chat, and I'm not in their squad. But it's cool. My frustrations can be taken as negative, while the overall point is missed. I would have no problem if Excalibur Umbra came out next year along with any other content so long as they fixed some of the glaring issues in the game. <sarcasm> I'm gonna go dry my tears now and sit on an igloo </sarcasm>

  2. Pay walls? Uhhhhhhhh, entire argument lost.

From a game where you can earn mostly everything that's important just by playing the game and not paying a dime?

Warframe is built on loot/grind, just like diablo etc. It has been for the past 3 years. Grind is always going to be present in these types of games especially when it's free to play

Of course this game is something you have to invest time in, just like everything with a progression system.

I only paid like what? one prime access and that's it. I'm already where most people are, that "endgame" where you fashionframe, chatframe etc.

No one is forcing you to buy anything. Most of which are cosmetics and hold nothing of importance, trading is thing btw.

Connection is Peer to Peer, so unless the host has terrible issues, you're good somewhat depending on your connection to the host.

If you were referring to my post, there is a paywall. The game is not free to play. If no one buys plat, the in game economy will crash once it is all given back to DE. You can't buy a weapons/frame slot with credits. Explain how we get around that

  3. Disclaimer: This is only my opinion. This is not gospel. Sarcastic remarks and snarky tones are more than welcome, so long as it has a touch of humor. And yes PC players, we know you supported the game when there were many issues, but don't ignore what's going on now. Read it all before you comment, or skip to the last paragraph and then flame. It's your choice.

I want to start by saying that Warframe may be the best game I have ever played. It is an ambitious mix of my favorite gaming genres that draws inspiration from a slew of anime, western animation, mythologies from different cultures, and history. When I began playing  a year ago it appealed to me because I saw Power Rangers mixed with Strider, laid over Unreal Tournament,  while having Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, and God of war sprinkled on top. It's a casserole made with almost every ingredient imaginable. But, a year has passed and I don't look at the game the same way. What is responsible for changing my perspective? Time.

Last year my goal was to play Warframe at my own pace and to collect every frame and weapon just for the experience. The game seemed to grow the more I learned, and utilizing every item felt like a necessity in achieving the full experience. Then it was announced that Frost was being taken out of the game. This created a sense of urgency and changed the way I played. My clan mates were nice enough to help me farm for the frame and his weapons (thank you Hydra and Incog), so that I didn't have to miss out on the experience according to the information we operated on. I can't remember if Steve explained that Frost would make a return once the Star chart was reworked at the time, and we didn't know about the Prime Vault "reopening" for the holiday season. What I did know, was that the game was not static. Not only would there be content added, but content removed. When will I be able to access unavailable content without trading for it? Will there be a time when I have the platinum to trade for it, without considering that the supply may not be found even within the community. Will there be items that would never return to the game at all? Two tenets of Warframe can be identified as cooperation and sacrifice. I have no problem accepting that I may not be able to get every item. But the third tenet that people always bring up while referring to it by another name entirely, is time.

Warframe is a grind. There are many threads that talk about it so I won't go into it at length. Presently, it is essential in prolonging the player's experience and ensuring that the game creates a profit so that more content can be created. It comes with positives and negatives. The problem that I have isn't only in the amount of time it takes to gain certain items, nor the feeling that chance can outweigh merit, but the combination of the two. Add to this the fact that the game could drop out at any moment. The feeling one has after playing a game for twenty minutes to an hour, only to lose connection is incredible. Then, consider the player base that have school, jobs, families and other obligations. They don't have a lot of time available to play a game that is based around keeping you playing for as long as it can. Now imagine how these people feel when they have spare funds available, and an opportunity to support the game.

Just from the conversations that I've had with players over the year, I've found that many people tend to spend more money on this game when they're new. As they learn how to get items that aren't exclusively attainable with real world currency, they become more selective with their spending. Basically, you buy the accessories pack for prime access for boosters and exclusive cosmetics, and certain platform exclusive items that you couldn't with platinum. Recently, this has expanded to include other items like certain difficult to farm frames and landing crafts. But we get it. The company has to generate a profit for Warframe to exist. So please understand why the player base isn't as constructive with their criticism at all times. After a while, you ask yourself if you have the time to invest in the game. Especially when all the exploits that were discovered to maximize your time are removed, and everything feels like a money trap.

To wrap this poorly written rant up, Warframe is still a good game with amazing potential to only become better. But it is not without it's problems. It does feel as though the game can suck all of the enthusiasm you had for it out of you with the issues that I highlighted. It's hard to keep selling the game on the "free to play" model when you have to invest a great deal of time, money, or both only to ask yourself why you continue to do it. The game demands a lot, and delivers a lot. But it feels as though the ratio is shifting in the wrong direction and certain fundamental issues have yet to be addressed. To list them again to be as clear as crystal: grind = chance x time +/- merit, connectivity issues, pay walls

And that's where salt comes from.

  4. To clarify on some things before I get into the mindless back and forth: that post was a joke^. I just find it funny that PC is worried about folks being favored ahead of them, when they've enjoyed the best playing experience so far in receiving updates first (due to the absence of console certification), among other things. Then there's the existence of that one frame in your build that console players are not allowed to mention. But I get it. Without you, there would be no Warframe. Just wish I knew about the game in 2013.

But anyway, you guys are overreacting. Wait and see what happens before you predict the end. If they released that one frame I can't mention in China, then I can understand why you'd feel upset. But the game has never really been F2P, unless you only want to play with a few frames. You have to buy slot, which costs Plat, and that in game currency is behind a pay wall. If no one buys Plat, the in-game economy folds and everything freezes. Now we're predicting a bunch of things that more than likely won't happen all because PC players feel the China market will be placed ahead of them. Really?

I'm trying (and failing) to be sympathetic about this, but you guys sound spoiled. You had to wait for Nezha and Wukong, right? Console still doesn't have Nezha. We're still waiting on Holiday decorations, after the Holiday. They explained the reason for both (Microsoft & Sony overlords) and we have to accept it. They explained why you had to wait for the time-exclusive frames and enough of the PC community pouted. You'll get over it.

  5. Well, if that works for DE and Warframe i'm cool with it... What i'm afraid of is that it is possible Chinese players will be favored, in already mentioned ways like timed exclusives - if that happens i guess im out.

I know there are valid reasons for XBox players being bottom of the barrel, but welcome to the club, buddy. Those days of privilege look like a thing of the past, huh? You'll be fine

  6. It's a good weapon, but it isn't OP. Why?

    1. Skill: You can have the same setup and suck. I love the dragon nikana for PVE and it's shown as my most used weapon, but in PVP, I get slaughtered unless I'm really in the zone. Even then, I'll run into an Ack & Brunt, Jet Kittag, Galatine, etc. Not all players that use these weapons are good, but the percentage that are do annoy me. Should we nerf all of those weapons as well? (Rhetorical, although I know most would say "yes")

    2. Opponent: Here you have a combination of your opponent's skill and the frame they're using. If they know how to deal with heeding call and the various combos and stances, you may not be able to dominate them as seen in the video. Then you have to consider the frame they're using, it's armor rating, and any ability that would limit damage.Rhino, Frost, and Valkyr come to mind.

I did want to include a third reason describing the flow of a game and the fact that everyone isn't always at their best, but that would probably be overlooked. All I can say is learn to adapt. There are other weapons that are used at a much higher frequency and a much lower quality, yet score kills easily and usually people figure out their own ways around them. If anything, it'd be great if the netcode for PVP was looked into as that would fix a lot of issues. It's annoying when people appear to be farther away and yet melee you to death. Latency is the issue most of the time, not the weapons.

  7. You've got to be kidding me...

You have all fought the Sentients right? Imagine a quest or new mission types where thats your only enemy, at high levels. You'll pray for something as "overpowered" as Shadow Step. If you've been playing the game for a while, you've got your builds set up the way you play, frames and weaponed forma'd to your liking with a complete knowledge of how to run through most or all nodes in a short amount of time. You will feel "overpowered" when you get a new ability that's being used against the SAME enemies you've killed countless times before

Wait until we get hoards of Sentients to fend off, then come back and reevaluate Naramon. Buff the other schools? No. Play in a squad where you can coordinate to have different schools for each player to maximize on the possibilities.

  8. For one thing omega is a stupid thing people made up to sucker people into more plat.

You cannot buy a big kubrow because size is completely random. You can buy a bulky kubrow but not a tall one

Irrelevant to my post. I know that sizes are random, which is why I spent so much plat. I wanted all Omegas. I used the plat to buy eggs when I had dry spells of finding one on Earth after 30+ runs, and to rush them. I don't care about size when I'm selling a Kubrow. Savy buyers only care about the breed and rare colors. So no, Omega isn't just a way for veteran players to reel in inexperienced ones. For some breeders it's a pride thing in having a bear standing next to you. If you can't relate, I understand. But don't pass judgment without knowing where the next player is coming from.

It might have been a fix for an older bug that showed Kubrows with the wrong size in Dojos.

Nope. It carries the same "new" size in dojos, ships, and missions.

    pics ?

Gimme a sec to comb my DVR. I have PLENTY showing an Omega's size before in different settings.

  9. I have several Omega bulkys, and with the ceiling coming down a little lower on the incubator segment, it appears as though my kubrows have been downsized to accommodate the change. I first noticed this in the clan dojo when I noticed I was towering over my once beastly Lotus Sahasa. I then did the same size comparisons with my other frames that I'd routinely use to determine if I have an Omega and whether or not I had to reroll the prints to confirm my suspicions.

I don't know if this counts as a bug or an unforeseen design change but it kinda sucks all the same after all the plat I've invested into these things.

  10. I finished the Second Dream Quest, got the lens and don't remember being asked where I wanted it to be installed (warframe, weapon). I also can't find anything referring to it in game aside from going into the back of the ship or performing the current ability I have for it. I also don't see any indication that I'm earning affinity for my lens and I have the same frame and weapons equipped that I used through out. Where have I not checked?

  11. Wow.

I think we've been spoiled. And I don't mean the editorial "we". I mean we as a gaming community.

I won't be the first guy to defend DE or any profit earning company when their audience has an issue, but this is different. And I'm not trying to bash you or ignore your overall message, but I am a little taken aback by it. Why? Because this is one of the few games that takes feedback and coordinates with the community so closely to improve the experience. I'm an XBox Tenno so I still have yet to comb through everything included in update 18, but it's impressive so far. What may quench your thirst may be the new star chart change that they'll be implementing next year. I did take notice that you only mentioned weapons, but I'd hazard to guess that after you potato-ed, and forma-d them to fit your desired mod set up, you'd feel boredom creeping up once again. You may be experiencing fatigue due to repetition.

Just to ask though, are the sortees any fun for you? Just curious as to where everyone is.

  12. While I wait for the update to install... Does anyone else feel like we should get an affinity booster for the inconvenience?

    No.

This isn't a hostage situation. Asking to be appeased won't lead them to taking us seriously.

It'd be great if this opens up a discussion on updates and possible console harmony with releases, but stop asking for free S#&$. You want the problem solved or you want something free that you won't care about after a couple hours?
