I made an account as a new player to come here and say: this system feels really, really bad and disrespectful of my time and investment as a player.

I don't mind incentivizing players to watch streams with drops. But I think they need to be accessible, or the rewards need to be mild enough to not create fomo / opportunity cost. I felt this way earlier this week about the seriglass shard, which I just earned my first of from Deimos. I happened to see a youtube video about the drop and let my phone stream the channel while I was in meetings all morning. Phew, got a seriglass shard and saved hours and hours of farm.

My friends were joking about how it wasn't as bad as if someone decided to put an Umbral Forma in the grab bag... and then.... wow. I keep up with and play the game daily and had no idea. My friends pinged me about it when it was too late to meet the min streaming requirement for even one drop. Cool, missed it.

I have 2 total umbral forma to my account. I haven't spent them because they're a precious resource. It feels crazy bad that this was something just thrown into a twitch drop for an incredibly easy to miss window of time for someone with a job.

If this is just out of "good will and celebration," consider mailing all players the reward if it's going to be the scarcest resource in the game. And also consider keeping your drop rewards cosmetic, fun, and not anxiety-inducing for people who care about progressing in your game.

As a long-term player, I completely agree. A celebration should not include one of the rarest resources in the game along with easily accessible ones; the rarest resource should just be given out so that no one experiences the feeling of missing out (fomo). Having come back to the game after two years, this is not how drops were handled back then, this is just worse; fun drops should be limited to cosmetic items, not items that ordinarily take two months to get. These grab bags were just handled poorly; the wide disparity in the value of items in the pool of things to obtain combined with extremely short notice just makes my friends and I feel worse than had you not given out anything.
