  1.  The basic units don't really drop anything of use to a new player other than Vitality and hopefully a Redirection. A Grineer might drop a Streamline, but I wouldn't count on it getting it before Earth without alot of grinding or some insane luck.

My advice is still to get Vitality and Redirection as high as possible using duplicates and fusion cores. After those are up a few ranks a new player could put some time into one of the basic offensive mods that should drop by then(Pressure Point, Heated Charge, ect.). Which ones depends on preference mostly.

Buying the BPs for the Heat Swords and Latron and making them asap is a good idea in my opinion as well.

Not looking for suggestions. I'm Rank 13. I'm just looking to get data for my project. But I could incorporate that as well, just not immediately.

Chances are, if you get stuck on a mission, you're going to probably grind a bit and try and make your weapons better if you choose to play alone.

  2. If we're only considering mods that you get before Earth then the ones we can recommend are pretty limited. At that point you pretty much just have to take what you can get and concentrate what little resources you have into Vitality and Redirection.

That may be so, but it's mostly to help newer players. So Im looking to get feedback so that way the information I put together is accurate. The Grineer and Corpus do drop a decent variety of mods. Even from just the basic units.

A friend and I are getting things ready at the moment to start from Terminus and go all the way to Eurasia.

We'll be using unpotato'd Excalibur and starter weapons, keep track of credits gained from start to finish, and also will be keeping track of what mods we get and how much we will be able to level them.

When it's all done, I'll be sure to PM you the thread with all the information and feedback he and I collect.

Sounds good. You could also just add the mods you get to the data sheet I made.

  3. Okay I'll make this thread fairly simple. As the title suggests, I'm starting a small project to help newer players have a better experience with Warframe. I'm just now starting the first phase, Data collection.

First off let me answer a few questions some of you may have already at this point.

Who am I and what is this project?

I am who my IGN/ Forum says I am. I'm currently a Mastery Rank 13 player, slowly working my way to higher ranks. None of this is actually important really.

Just know that this collected data will eventually be made into videos to help new players =). These videos will also probably get their own thread to be in, or this one will just be updated. Why videos? Simply because video are what I do to entertain myself to make any grinding more entertaining.

    What data am I gathering?

I just want to get a general idea of what mods most players would have around the time they get to Earth, where apparently the difficult goes up enough to make the game difficult for new players.

Who am I requesting data from?

Generally new players, PC or PS4. Older players can contribute if they wish as well, but it's a bit more complicated for them. (kinda)

I generally want players to add what mods that they have currently (Excluding warframe powers) that they have gathered in the time they have spent getting to Earth, and the ranks of those mods. If an older player wish to participate and help out, I'd prefer they make a new account or provide info from accounts around this general area from Mercury to Earth, any farther and it's likely results may be skewed.

How do I plan to gather this data?

This data page. It's currently open to be edited. It may not be the best method of doing do, but it's just for the sake of simplicity and to make it so I don't have to sift through post after post of data. This page includes instructions as to formatting and such and how to add the data.

    ----

I'm generally a helpful player overall, which is why I feel doing something like is better than trying to just take the easy way out and make everything easier. Overall my goals is to help guide newer players and help them get into the game, and allow them to learn the game on their own with just this minor guidance. After the main portion of the project is complete, it may be expanded upon to include other, possibly more advanced things. For now, it's just going to be a guide aimed specifically at beginners.

Hopefully. This idea goes over well and I get a decent amount of data to work with. Of course DE is free to use the collected data for any purposes necessary as well, like rearranging drop tables to make sure players get the mods they'll need or use the most early on.

Looking forward to any and all responses, comments, and data additions~

  4. I encountered a major UI bug today. In the middle of a mission, my UI changed to match a clan mate's that was running with me.

    Here's the image

    DetlJlK.jpg

As you can see in the image It took an exact copy of their UI that changes when as their's did.

For reference my loadout was :

    Nyx - 25

    Detron - 29

    Karak - 8

I got to see everything my clan mate did and had as far as Health, Shields, Energy and ammo.

When they fired their weapons, I saw the ammo go down. When I switched weapons it switch the name of the weapon to their other weapon. They use a power, I saw the energy drop.  You get the idea.

It was very hindering to the gameplay. I couldn't see anything as far as my stats. I even got downed to see if they fixed it. Sadly, it didn't. I kept dying constantly from not being able to see my own health after that, kept trying to use powers when I didn't have enough energy because I just couldn't see it.

  5. I'll say it now and I'll be both brief and civil too, how nice of me. The whining posts? Constructive criticism on issues that DE keeps ignoring and we want the game to succeed. People who only give out nothing but blind praise like yourself, will kill the game. There, now to leave before I go into detail any further.

Okay, there's a clear difference between constructive criticism and whining. Just to help clarify it for you.

CC - Saying something is wrong, and suggesting way it can be fixed without being upset.

Whining - Complaining about something being changed, yet offering no possible solution and even goign as far as to say they hate the game and or DE.

To you Malindros, I agree.  The update was good. But there's going to always be those people unhappy with DE regardless of how they change it. I do think them implementing trading sooner rather than later would be beneficial. just keep it limited to certain things until they get any obvious exploits worked out of it.

  6. P.S how are carrirer and the infested sentinel? I know you guys bought them already

I've heard the Carrier is quite good. it comes with a shotgun. (mine's ready in about an hour.)

Nobody has the infested sentinel. It's clan researched. so it'll be 6 days before anyone has it, because there's a weapon that has to be researched as a prerequisite.  It supposedly shoots poison darts, so it may be a weaker version of the acrid without a DoT.

  7. Love the update and the hotfixes.

But sadly I cannot play with anyone due to this hotfix.

The game is bugged thinking I have uPnP disabled, not allowing me to connect to/play with anyone. It did this in the patch before U10 as well and I was happy because U10 fixed it.. but it's broken again.

  8. Yup i lose the mods, good job DE -.

    Don't worry, there's still 2 waves yet.

please don't tell me escalation is the same thing as fear

    Same thing, just higher levels.

should you get 200 points, would you get a double set of all three mods? same for 100 points, where you get one of each?

You only get one set, regardless of points gotten. But that doesn't mean you should give up on the event!

  9. I've noticed the issue with Null Star not having the Energy Color applied as well.

To add to the bugs here..

Worm Hole : Disappears after one use by a teammate, but will last full duration regardless of uses by enemies, even at max level, but the person who used Worm Hole can travel though it several times, regardless of level.

Also, enemies using the Worm Hole don't appear to teleport correctly, they seem to just disappear, or entirely ignore and bypass the Worm Hole.

  10. Okay, so I've had my Banshee for a while now. But I've noticed chat is disabled while Sound Quake is in effect.

Is this intentional or a bug? Seem kind of odd that chat would be disabled while a skill is in effect.  Never had an Issue with chatting while using Mag's crush ability.

Because it'd be helpful if I could type to my clan mates while this skill is going since it buys me time to do so, seeing as I lack a microphone. Since it's active for around 7 seconds.

  11. The idea of the frame itself seems fine. The description is meant to be short but descriptive, which that fits perfectly.

However the abilties need some work.

Time stop: I honestly like the idea, but rather a single enemy, it should be a radial effect, somewhat similar to Vauban's Bastille, just not with the same amount of range.. Or at least make it a single target target and any nearby targets get slowed. Have just one target be frozen seems like it'd only be practical with bosses.

Accelerate should be a team effect, like Aevus gets at 10% speed increase and team mates could get slightly less, like 5 or 7%

Distillation field doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Mainly because it has too many things going when each could be a seperate ability.

Slowing projectile doesn't make too much sense, because what would be the point of slowing a projectile if the only ones visible are Corpus lasers? Reducing damage, now that seems more possible to do.

On top of that you also want another ability that act's like Bastille? I think Time stop would be sufficient enough if tweaked.

Dust: Why does everyone honestly like the "Press 4 to Kill Everything in Range" abilites. Honestly, not every warframe should be offensive focused, nor do all of them need a massive kill everything AoE. I mean there's already Mag, Frost, Vauban, Banshee and other frame with identical abilites.

Aside from Dust, and Distillation Field, I like the concept. As I said though, the abilities definitely need some work. Because most its abilities are rehashes of the abilities of other frames.

Having every warframe working in a similar manner would just end up making the game not worth playing, and I'm sure nobody wants that.

  12. I haven't been playing too long, about a few weeks now. But I noticed a few thing with the Foundry that seem a bit.. off. I do apologize if this happens to be in the wrong area.

First, I noticed something that makes the foundry more time consuming than it needs to be. The fact that when it comes to certain things, you can only build them one at a time.

So here's my idea to try to alleviate some of the hassle that comes with the foundry. I propose that the initial Foundry screen shows still appears the same way. But however when you click the BUILD button, you get greeted with a new UI that looks similar to this image. Excuse it's size, I wanted everythign to be clearly visible

    SkfYAMs.png

Now a few things to point out here. First, this new UI displays how many of the Blueprint you're going to be building you have. Next are the build Options of One and All, these will be explained in a bit, because it's not straight forward. Then of course there's a cancel button, which has a couple functions to be explained. I was considering adding a regular Build, but for the sake of making the image seem less crowded it'll work a bit differently.

Okay, starting with the Build all option. This is fairly straight forward, but not quite. yes it will build all of the BPs at the same time, but there's a small catch.

This catch is fairly simple. They aren't all going to build at one flat time. To explain this, what I mean is that the times will stack, but there is a bonus to it. When building more than one at a time, the time for any additional BPs being crafted will be reduced by 66%. The resource usage still remains the same.

For example the Orokin Reactor shown in the image takes a full day to build. But building multiple at a time would would follow a structure similar to this: \

    1: 24 hours/Normal Rush cost

    2: 32 hours/150% Rush cost

    3: 40 hours/200% Rush cost

    4: 48 hours/250% Rush cost

So essentially, each additional BP only adds 1/3 or the initial time to build. As you can see though, the time it takes to make many at a time is reduced, but they can only be claimed when they are all done. There's another mechanic going to be explained a bit later to amend that. \

Moving on to the Build One button now. This will work in a way similar to the Build all, but only adding one at a time, with the time stacking in the same manner.

Then finally the cancel button. If nothing is building this button will do nothing, or just act as a secondary method of closing the window. However if something IS building this can cancel it, collecting any of the BPs that have finished building. The unused or in-progress BPs will be returned to the inventory. Restarting the process with the canceled BP will start the time stack over.

Seems like a fairly decent idea that could be implemented.

Something else I noticed is that the Rush cost doesn't scale with the progress at all.

The rush cost should at least drop every 10% of the build time, by a respective 10% each time. It's seems a bit unfair whether or not it still have the full time, or nowhere near it, it still costs the same amount. More people may be willing to utilize the Rush feature if the cost scaled down as it progressed.

For example someone could log on and notice something only has a few hours left, but don't plan to play too long but really wanted to try their new weapon or use their item. They may be inclined to rush if it didn't cost the full cost of when it started.

These are just a few tweaks I think could improve the current Foundry system. I think the UI change would greatly aid players when they try to craft the materials needed for the clan Dojo weapons, or Formas and other similar items.

Sorry if these idea have come up previously elsewhere, I just noticed them and thought of ways they could be improved and decided to  make my fist post about them.
