  1. My Fiancee mains Trinity, and she prefers to run high duration to keep her links and bless active with the expectation that people will kill her EV'd targets. Unless you're in it for the single-target nuke, negative duration pretty much ruins Trinity's utility.

  2. Killing the enemy you're leaching energy from is fine! Normally you'd get 4(?) pulses of energy, but if the target dies, all the remaining pulses come out at once. So if an enemy has pulsed twice, then dies, it'll give off a big pulse on death worth 2 normal pulses.

So unless you're actually looking for a slower drip of energy to maintain lighter skill-using, getting the big pop all at once is nice (plus it lets you just go ahead and target a new enemy)

  3. Take a break, but keep an eye on the news. If something exciting comes up, play for a bit, and if you're feeling it, keep playing. If not, keep on with your break. Forcing yourself to keep playing is a good way to go from "Burnt out" to "Never want to see this game again."

  4. Hi!

I have rivens for two different zaw strikes- the Cyath and the Sepfahn. My go-to melee is my riven'd Bo Prime, so I'm not super in the market for a staff or polearm. So my question is- Which would you reccomend, the Cyath as a machete or the Sepfahn as a nikana?

Factors: Neither riven is great, I'll have to reroll. I have the stances for nikana, but would have to purchase Cyclone Kraken. My Bo Prime is a status weapon (Close to 100%), so I'm more interested in a good crit weapon.

    Any advice is welcome! Thanks!

  5. I'm a constant advocate for the Baza. People always talk about the fact that it is silence (And that's a nice bonus when the enemies aren't alerted yet), but it's real benefit is the pinpoint accuracy. It's super easy to unload an entire clip into somebody's head.

It's not quite the same sort of weapon as the others you mentioned, though. Unlike the Soma and Tenora, the Baza doesn't have a spin-up time, making it easier to fire very short bursts to take out weaker enemies.

The biggest problem with the Baza is its fall-off (I fight at close enough quarters to not notice) and its small clip. Combined with its high fire rate, the Baza needs to be reloaded constantly.

Edit: Forgot to mention the Supra (Vandal, if you picked it up). It's an absolute bullet hose, and a lot of fun. It's more of a status gun, though, and it looks like you're looking for crits, but it's still worth a mention.

  6. Like others before me said, getting and leveling non-prime frames is a great way to get both mastery and the experience of playing that frame (Though I feel you don't really "Know" a frame until you've played it at lvl 30 for a little bit- leveling it can be misleading in some cases). If you like it, go for the prime! But if that's not feasible, that's okay, Prime frames are only very slight upgrades.

Weapon variants (Braton Prime vs. Braton, for example) tend to be larger upgrades than prime upgrades. In some cases (Cernos Prime and Venka Prime come to mind), they actually come with unique bonuses.

Personally, I never, ever upgrade anything I know has a prime (or vandal, prisma, etc.), but that's my broken brain, not yours.

  7. People have mentioned the Amprex and Angstrum, those are my favorites. I know the Kulstar is the more "meta" companion to the Angstrum, but i have a multishot riven, and being able to charge to fire 9 little rockets in one shot? Wonderful. Even better? Those occasions where the rift relic improves it, and lets your do that over and over without reloading...

Amprex is a lot of fun, too. I run corrosive/heat so it strips armor and CC's, and its high crits plus hunter munitions makes the whole world bleed.

My fiancee loves the Ignis Wraith. She cackles maniacally when she uses it- it's kind of scary. You can make due with the Ignis, but it's not hard to find people just giving away wraith blueprints, or you can buy one for a few plat if you're desperate.

Edit: Forgot the Supra Vandal if you were lucky enough to pick that up last weekend. It's a lot of fun to just hose enemies down. I'd love a riven for it, but I'm sure the price is crazy inflated right now.

  8. Also important: Multishot from separate mods add. Your 60 plus split chamber's 90 gives you 150, so you ALWAYS fire a second shot, and fire a third shot half the time.

Multishot is one of the most sought-after riven qualities, and (almost?) no weapon is considered complete without at least the base multishot mod. We fire enough shots for the law of large numbers to kick in, so 60% multishot is another 60% damage applied after elements and serration and everything else. Awesome. It also increases your status proc chance and crit chance per shot (because more projectiles per shot means more opportunities for procs and crits).

  9. Hello,

Yeah, it's odd that you have that spare murkray, but they aren't that bad to fish up. Go fishing in the sea (Far west or southeast) to get norgs and goopollas, which you need to craft Murkray bait. You'll just need to bite the bullet and get some Ostron standing to get the bait. I also recommend buying some of that luminous dye- throw it in the water with your bait, and the fish are WAY more visible. Seriously, you can even see them through solid rock.

As for maxing your operator/focus, you don't need a maxed operator to hunt eidolons. I can't speak for the stronger ones, but I can hunt Teralysts just fine with almost no focus. The big thing is your amp- the mote amp is awful, getting the 1-1-1 amp (which you said you did) is an ENORMOUS jump forward.

    Best of luck!

  10. Hello,

My fiancee and I have started hunting Eidolons, we can take out two per night with the two of us. I play Rhino and provide the vast majority of the damage, and she plays Trinity, finding and keeping the lures alive. The problem we are having is with the magnetic waves the Eidolon releases after it loses a synovia- if we get out of our frame and go void mode, we survive, but our frame still gets its energy fully drained. If we flee out of the waves' range, the lures lose their connection. What should we do?

    Thanks.

  11. Hello!

My fiancee and I both got Zaw rivens from last night's sortie. We've never fiddled with zaws, though we do have enough resources (more or less) to make some. I need advice on a couple of points:

My fiancee got a plague Keewar strike riven. Should she make a staff or a scythe? She normally uses Orthos Prime. What stats should she look for in the riven?

I got a Kronsh strike riven. Should I make a machete or a polearm (I'm leaning toward polearm, I like them and I heard the machete stances are bad). I usually use a riven'd Bo Prime. Is the Kronsh worth my time? If nothing else, it's funny looking. What stats should I look for in a riven for it?

Right now, plague star is offering unique exodias. I know I need 10 to make a fully... charged one. Should I get both? Can you equip more than one on a single zaw? Can you take it off (Distill?) it from one zaw and put it on another later?

And can someone explain zaw links to me? There are so many, it's kind of overwhelming, and they don't seem... hugely different.

Sorry, that was a lot of questions. Thanks in advance!

  12. Hello,

So, I'm getting ready to do my first eidolon runs with my equally inexperienced clanmates, and I've always been confused about something. I know that you need to have a lure attached to the eidolon so it doesn't teleport away, then you need two to capture it. Does the lure used to prevent teleportation get destroyed in the process, meaning you need 3 total?

    What about the stronger eidolons?

    Thanks!

  13. It looks like you might be confused about the basic concept here.

The Toxin is the quest item you steal from Vay Hek's troops. You transport it to a mixer, and while it is mixing, you can add either infested catalyst and/or eidolon phylaxis, up to 4 of each. Defend the mixer until it's done.

Now you need to take the mixed toxin to a grineer drone, and protect the drone while it carries the poison. When you get closer to the plague star, stay away from it- it has a very powerful toxin aura that will kill you almost instantly. Stay off the upturned earth to be safe.

Each catalyst you add will cause a Hemocyte (basically just a lephantis) to spawn partway through stage 4, where you're fighting off large numbers of infested. These guys drop "hunter" set mods, so they're worth fighting until you have those. Each phylaxis you add increases the level of the infested, and also the amount of event standing you get. The increased level isn't super noticeable unless you're also using catalysts- it'll be over too quickly for the infested to get all that strong.

    Hopefully this helps.
