  1. Thanks for that feedback BlueA10 and yes, absolutely, its a preference thing.

Some people I have showed this to simply don't like the deeper colors, and it even can cause color bleeding on some TV's while on Full.

However, most people I show this to prefer it on Full.

I don't believe there is anyway it can hurt your TV at all to test it on full by switching it to "full" for a sec to see which you prefer, correct me if I am wrong please!

No you're right, to my knowledge it should be impossible that it would damage a TV, and in the end it does come down to a preference.

I'm someone who prefers to get the most "accurate" picture I can out of my displays, and by using a certain setting over the other it may be more immediately appealing to some but it can also be considered "inaccurate" to others. I just wanted to share my perspective on this.

  2. I suggest amending the RGB Full/Limited/Automatic thing after reading more into it, if you're just basing it off a whim. On my PS3 I researched whether RGB color range should be limited or full, and Full vs. Limited came out to be a combination of knowing what your TV/Display was expecting as well as what content you were trying to display. My TV even had an HDMI Black Level setting that was basically a Full/Limited switch, but a majority of content designed for televisions uses the Limited range, and I got great picture sticking to Limited and then just calibrating from there. PS4 may be more suited to Full than the PS3, but your TV may not necessarily be so.

So, since I'm unfamiliar with the PS4, IMO, you should leave it on Automatic and just calibrate your display if you haven't, or only change it to something manually if you've read into it and know what your TV likes to work with. I haven't read about it in a while so I can't really help anyone more than just saying you should look into it yourself instead of believing either option is always superior to the other.

  3. Already sold it. Sorry!?

I'm keeping it for 2 reasons myself, the first being that now it's not normally available and is a sort of collector's item. Second being that I didn't build it back when it was freely available and would like to rank it for Mastery points. Some people have already ranked it before and don't need to, but I still think it's a good idea to at least hold on to the BP, that way it's not taking up Weapon Slot space, but you'll still have it available in the future for whatever reason. It might end up being super-buffed or something, you never know.

  4. Everyone in Region has been so confused about the Machete. Been trying to convince them to keep the BP instead of selling it off.

    Thanks for the Hotfix!

DarkDataStorm's RedText is missing the first entry, which I screencapped but foolishly left my cursor on top of, so here's a quote.

"Hotfix 13.9.2 inbound in 5 minutes. U14 is getting close but it's not quite done yet. So as compensation we gave you all a free, um, machete. Because machete. Use it to take out your disappointment and frustration on poor innocent Grineer & Corpus at your discretion."

  5. sigh, idunno if i even want to bother, but let's give it a whirl.

this is attempt 2 of using an Injector for Warframe.

as with what happened the first time, i try to inject SMAA - and - they never actually apply. InjectSMAA did actually create it's log, but never wrote to it. SweetFX doesn't ever even write a log.

    the basics:

    - the Launcher, and both Executables are set to run Administrator.

    - tried putting most of the files in the Tools folder, no change.

    - Warframe is not running it's low quality FXAA, nor am i changing any AA related settings in my Drivers, everything is default.

    - using the correct applicable DirectX hook DLL's for the Bit Depth Architecture i'm running Warframe in.

    - have tried switching DirectX Renderers, no change.

and, this is why i've all but given up on injectors, as apparently, they simply do not hook or attempt to hook. following instructions to the letter should atleast fail, not just do nothing.

I decided a moment ago to try SweetFX on Warframe again and it kept crashing on startup. I know you said you tried putting most of the files in Tools, but keeping the injector dll (dxgi.dll for Dx11) in the base game folder with the two Warframe executables while moving all the other files to Tools is what fixed it for me, so if you didn't do that exactly, try it.

  6. Do you guys have to wire all that stuff up or do you just "slot it in"

Excuse me I was poor an sheltered as a child, just me an my consoles

Half and half, or rather, kind of both. Once you get a mobo and a PSU secured in a case, you pretty much just slot in the CPU, RAM, GPU or any other PCI extension cards like Sound Cards, the case usually has slots for you to put the hard drive and disk drives in. After you get everything in place, then you have to connect the power supply to everything and some of the things that don't fit right into the motherboard TO the motherboard like the hard/disk drives, but most connectors and slots are labelled clearly and hard to misplace.

  7. OS: Windows 7 x64 Service Pack 1

CPU: i5-760 OC'd to 3.6GHz with most power saving features on, with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 aftermarket cooler

    GPU: Gigabyte GTX 670 2GB

Storage: 120GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD for OS and certain games (Bethesda RPG's come to mind); + 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black

    Mobo: Gigabyte P55A-UD4P

Sound: Asus Xonar DG with Sennheiser HD598 Headphones (pretty damn awesome playing with Dolby Headphone on, still great with it off)

RAM: 2x2GB G.Skill Ripjaws I think? Can't honestly remember the specs on them, need to upgrade to 8GB anyway.

Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion Case (comes with like 4 blue neon fans, actually kind of annoying when I'm trying to sleep though and the room is lit up)

    PSU: Antec Earthwatts 750w Hybrid

Little bit of a CPU bottleneck since I've got an older i5, but nothing major. Only shows up in CPU-super-intensive games like Planetside 2 or horribly optimized games like GTA 4. Warframe used to chug a bit on Void missions when 100+ enemies spawned in the same room, but ever since I've come back a few weeks ago everything feels butter smooth. I don't monitor FPS, but it feels like it's generally in the range of 60-100, with very rare dips with tons of enemies on performance intensive tilesets (Orokin Derelict). Have all settings on/maxed with DirectX 11 and Multi-Threaded Rendering, except for Depth of Field, Antialiasing (too blurry), and Color Correction (hurts my eyes when on). I tend to turn Motion Blur off in games but Warframe has the best motion blur I've ever seen. It makes things look cinematic and smooth but it's not overused; very nice.

Not having any memory related problems in Warframe, but it couldn't hurt for me to get more for other reasons and games. For the time being though, I've been using the 32-bit Executable to see if there's a noticeable difference. Haven't noticed any major improvements, but nothing negative either, so I'm sticking with it until I get more RAM.

  8.

Damn that's a nice post. Didn't expect to get anything elabroate like that, and I really appreciate it. I've played the game for quite a bit of time, so some of these things I already understand or have tried, but I took a break somewhere around the 4th quarter of last year. Just came back a few weeks ago and now I'm losing Online for an extended amount of time, while I've been mostly playing with others for the time I have played. It's really nice to have everything laid out in front of me like you just did, considering I'm basically new to Solo play. Helps me get a handle on my options and general mindset to take to.

So thanks a lot! Great post!

  9. Already got a maxed Rhino (no potato, usually save them for Primes), but I don't really like him that much. Iron Skin and Stomp are great (didn't like Rhino Charge much), but I feel like their usefulness drops at higher levels, and I personally prefer fast frames with Rush to avoid damage rather than tank it. I guess I could buy a Vanguard helmet from somone and put it on Rhino Prime to mitigate his slowness. Loki's got the speed, and I do have 2 of Lokis parts and have been meaning to make him for a while, since he sounds like tons of fun. Might just get him started tonight. I've already tried somewhat emulating Radial Disarm with Radial Blind on Excal Prime.

Soma's good and kills things dead, but it's not ammo efficient enough for me, I don't want to slot an ammo mutation in on it, and I'm saving my Formas for the foundry. Along with Loki I have been meaning to get a Penta, or some other explosive/AoE weapon. The little clan I'm in has just about if not everything researched, and I'm currently holding an Ogris and Ignis BP, but am in serious lack of Ferrite, of all things.

The Wiki is always availalbe but I prefer hearing opinions first hand from other players, so can anyone offer comparing opinions between the Penta and other weapons that can be used to a similar effect?

It's not so much that I'm having trouble with missions. Star chart missions are easy to finish with maxed gear, and they feel piontless. Leveling new stuff feels less pointless, but is harder to do quickly alone, so I'm mainly looking for best ways to level solo and more ways to have fun without playing online.

Updated OP with my Frames and Weapons

  10. Without going into the specifics at the moment, I'm not losing internet access but I have been restricted to playing alone for at least several months. I was wondering if anyone was willing to share any fun ideas for solo play, tips for leveling since leeching isn't an option, or if some of you play solo primarily, what your general thoughts about it are / how do you deal with it, or what is your typical day in Warframe. Just looking for anyhting to help me on the lonely road ahead.

I've got most of the star chart is unlocked, I guess I could try focusing on unlocking everything, but I could probably get that done in one night. I'm 2/3 through Mastery 8, currently levelling and building a ton of weapons and frames, but farming and levelling are both such a pain in Solo. I've been toying around trying to see how far I can get in Survival and trying to stealth my way through missions, but neither feel particularly rewarding, stealth much less so than Survival.

If all else fails I've got several other games I could play and things to do, but I not only love Warframe (despite some of its problems), I want to keep enjoying it without depending on other players to make it enjoyable, regardless of when I get multiplayer back up and running.

  11. I should have some Kogake ready today to goof around with. I've heard some good things about these, especially with their ragdolling potential. I'm going to see if I can do something neat with Pull plus these

mmmi like Mag. she is rather useless up there but on majority of the missions she is so cool.

I like Pull it's like "On your knees dog" power. Also you can rain blood with Pull. Like you are standing on top of pod trolley on Kappa. Pulling entire room to you and use Crush on them all.

Crush is always fun. the only power that allows you to shove grineers legs up in their asses.

Crush is pretty fun, and to me seems quite useful even if it doesn't immediately kill everything later on, but it's just that at those higher levels with other AoE warframes, they still do so well that using Crush doesn't end up making any difference in the fight. If I ever use it, I'll use Pull a few times in different directions to make sure I get the maximum amount of damage out of my Crush at once.

    I approve this topic.

I often find the lack of creativity, ingenuity, and adaptability to be extremely boring, repetitive, and predictable. When I use a frame, I never take off all four abilities on it. Why have something and never use it?

I'll give some of my examples when my phone isn't dying (because I'm using it to type this)

I admit that I've started keeping just Pull without the other powers on Mag (whose not potato'd, yet.), and setting up my mods to capitalize its use as well as high shields and mobility so I can move around the battlefield and control the enemies. It's just fun being able to fly around everywhere moving the entire battle to wherever I choose. That being said, I hadn't even considered using Pull before this, and left it off all the time in favor of other abilities.

For the above post about Nova's mid-air casting, this also works for Pull on Mag, but I don't think it works for any of her other abilities.

  12. just use kunai/acrid on a nova and win warframe

That's not the point. At the core of this discussion, I want to find and bring attention to more ways to play the game other than just min/maxing or anything of that sort that results in a majority using cookie cutter builds. I'm kind of looking for more diversity, in a way. Also, just to get it out of the way, no one get me wrong and think that I'm taking a stance against popular weapon/frame combos and want to change weapon balance somehow Everyone is free to play (see what I did there? cause it's a f2p game? huh? yeah, I'm not funny.) their own way. I'm sharing how I play, and am curious how others play as well aside from the most popular and well-known methods.

  13. Thread Intro(?):

I'm currently waiting on some money which I intend to use on the $50 Founder's Pack. I'll use the plat to buy all the warframe slots I'll ever need. For now, I'm stuck with Excal and Mag. Excal is kind of fun for parkour with Super Jump and Slash Dash, and while a few Slash Dashes will usually do the same if not better than Radial Javelin, it makes me proud to have an Nvidia card with it's beautiful particles everywhere. Haven't really tried Radial Blind all that much, but it seems like I'd rather use the energy on some Slash Dashes or a Javelin.

Mag is... interesting. I originally planned on getting a Nova, but my friend got her first and I wanted to be a little unique. I wanted to use Mag to help on Defense and the like. Shield Polarize sounded perfect for keeping the core topped out, especially after the recent objective scaling change, and Crush just sounded awesome. Well, it turned out that Mag was a bit underwhelming to me. I figured maybe it was because I didn't have maxed out mods like Focus/Stretch and the like, but I couldn't see how leveling them anymore would help when it got to the point that energy used on Shield Polarize was only useful if you didn't have a Frost and were not doing Infested Defense, and that it was better used on Crush if you did have a Frost, or were on Infested Defense, and even then at higher levels it doesn't do enough damage to kill all of the mobs, since (if what I hear is correct) the damage has armor applied to it, and just about every other AoE warframe could do a much better job.

Anyway, I've been trying to find ways to still be effective with Mag, and realised that I'll probably have to focus on weapon damage and possibly Shield Polarize for helping allies and possibly the core in emergencies. I've got Redirection and Fast Deflection up a bit and have been using her as a psuedo-tank with 810 shields at the moment, and just tried to focus on gunplay. Results were fairly succesful. I couldn't save the day with AoE or a blinding supernova, but weapons in general do fairly well at most levels as long as you have appropriate mods like damage + armor piercing and all. I was definitely contributing to putting mobs down.

That's when I realised I shouldn't have to play that way. Why even have warframes if I'm not going to use their abilities at all? But when I play Mag as on AoE, I don't even get a chance to do anything since everyone else in the group can do so much better. So now I'm trying to think out-of-the-box and still find use out of her abilites. What I've discovered is the absolutely amazing utility of Pull. I can't believe I didn't use it more. It seemed so useless at first, just pulling an enemy or two closer. I figured it would only work well for those who prefer shotguns and melee.

If you don't know exactly how Pull works, basically it's exactly how it sounds. It pulls (as far as I can tell) every enemy in front of you within a cone of effect to your position. Sometimes heavier enemies aren't pulled all the way to you, but if it matters you can cast it twice and make sure they reach their destination. The cone of effect's distance is affected by Stretch, to the point where I can stand on the core and pull entire groups of mobs coming out of the doors on Xini with a Rank 2 or 3 Stretch and maxed Pull. I'm unaware if Stretch affects the cones spread or angle (wideness, if you will), but with Field of View turned all the way up in the options, it always seems to affect everything on my screen and then some, if it's all in range. Pull also supposedly does 50 damage that ingores armor, but I've found little use for that in higher level missions.

So basically (and TL;DR), my part in starting this thread is to explain the uses I've found with Pull, and to ask if others would share non-conventional (or even conventional) ways to use abilites or otherwise play the game (including but not limited to Pull), and still contribute to a group of players or even improve your solo ability. I don't want min/maxing, but to find usefulness out of things thought to be useless. It's probably really just a glorified general tips and tricks thread, but oh well. Oh, and please oh please do tell me if there is some awesome way to play Mag that I didn't know of that makes her ridiculous, because I keep hearing of some kind of secret playstyle that makes her OP, but I'm skeptical (but also a bit of a newb).

    Pull Tactics

    • Obvious one, use Pull and then either jump attack or go to town with your preferred weapon while the enemies are helpless on the ground. Bonus if your weapon has freeze damage so they slow down more. It's cheap ranged temporary crowd control.

    • Again, kind of basic. If you need to protect an objective and it's getting hammered, get away from the objective and pull all the enemies off of it to give you and your teammates a quick breather. Bonus points if you abuse the pathfinding and pull the enemies (mainly melee) to some ledge that they have to take the long way around to get back to objective.

    • Synergise with other warframe abilities. Vauban set up a vortex or tesla traps? Pull more enemies into them. If you've got a Nova, you know how much they love to blow stuff up. Pull as many enemies into their Prime range as you can. Just think of how you can make everyone elses' plans perfect, as far as enemy positioning goes.

    • Keep in mind you can use Pull while jumping or performing just about any other movement action (although it will cancel wallruns and probably slides.) If you need to Pull some guys away fast, slide flip jump (or walljump boost) away then turn around and Pull while you're flying.

    • Take Shield Polarize as well on Corpus missions or possibly the Void. If there are a ton of enemies with shields or many shield bots, pull them all into a clump and shield polarize right in the middle of them. It doesn't really do a lot of damage unless you have an extremely large amount of shielded targets in range, but it's like your very own, vastly inferior but cool nonetheless Molecular Prime. Bonus points if the enemies are primed (see synergy tip), just be wary of volume levels and flashiness.

    • Specific abuse: Some locations that warframes can access may not have any pathfinding for enemies, which completely neutralizes most melee enemies and can generally disable or otherwise make-less-of-an-annoyance ranged enemies. What I've been playing around with recently are the very top catwalks (accesible primarily by the broken elevator shaft, and I guess any teleporters) on the Corpus space defense missions (like Xini). I stand up there, and whenever I see a very large group of mobs below, or the core is turning into a mosh pit, I'll pull everything towards me from up there. A good few will get stuck on the catwalk, some on the ledges, and depending where you're positioned, you can get some or all to fall to their death. No matter where they land up there, they will remain stationary and will only attack when close. If you get a lot of the exploding Infested, there's a chance they'll try to blow up after coming near you, but then fall and explode in midair, doing harm to no one. There are three bridges to find every angle you'd need. I try not to pull them off into the death/player respawn pits so as to not reduce the number of drops, but do it if you need to lighten up the forces hitting the objective quickly and effectively. If you feel like your cheating this way, then simply use one of the lower catwalks and delay the enemies/kill them with pitfalls depending on your choice of location. At the very least, you'll delay the onslaught and most likely get a few laughs from flying infested.
    • Without the fancy positioning like the above tip, you can also just do the second tip, but when you flip away from the enemies, flip off the edge of the level into a respawn zone and pull everything with you.

And that's just what I got at the moment. I'm still playing around with it. I admit I've found nothing groundbreaking, but hey, it's making the gameplay more interesting. That's why I figured I'd start a thread about it and get others' opinions/ideas about Mag and other warframes, especially seemingly underwhelming abilities/options. I really would like to find some way to make Bullet Attractor worthwhile against non-bosses, but I just don't see anyway to do it. Maybe there's some kind of way to mix it with Pull like Shield Polarize when up against Corpus.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go pass out.
