  1.

Balanced dmg-output in the end. zoren good for frames rising critchances due to abilitys...

Pretty sure no frame has an increased crit chance.

Invisibility only makes it so your weapon does +50% damage on normal attacks and +100% damage on charged attacks.

As far as Dual Ether vs Dual Zoren, depends, you want good really fast damage? (zorens) or slightly slower but slightly better damage? (dual ethers) or pretty slow but really high damage? (dual heat swords)

Personally I'd go with the Dual Ethers, the Zorens are crazy fast but it's a little too fast when modded and DHS is a little too slow. (Ethers are a nice middle ground)

  2.

BUT: If you use two weapons with a different length, the longer blade goes into your "better" hand, which should be the right hand and not the left, like it is now. It doesn't make any sense to me and is clearly a mistake.

Pretty sure in dual wield melee combat if you have a shorter weapon and a longer weapon, the shorter weapon does better in the dominant hand, but both styles can be used.

The off-hand weapon's main use is parrying, while the dominant hand's weapon is used for striking.

  3. For a good all round rifle that isn't great at anything but is good at everything.

Use a Braton (or Braton Vandal if you have one)

The concept art idea you gave is also very similar to the Burston.

For rifles we could probably use some more Mini-gun esque ones and more futuristic rifles. As well as slower firing, hard hitting rifles, but not as slow as Latron or Snipetron. Those guns are just far too slow for my tastes.

  4. Aww god this Braton Vandal is making so horny right now.

Gorgon now about as useful as a heat dagger? pff always preferred bratons anyway.

All shotguns nerfed into the ground now? pff you barely had to aim them anyway.

Fear my Braton Vandal, for it is.... actually a good weapon that isn't great at anything but is good at everything. =p

Let's just hope they don't nerf is cause it's one of the few good primary weapons left in game now.

Though it would be nice to get some color options for it. I like the decal, but could use some better color options.

  5. It is in DE's best interest at the moment to do this, but it would be cooler if it's acquisition required multi-boss farming or actually hard mission(s) (raid?) in the future.

It's really not DE's fault that they were able to feasibly add only 3-5 real ways to acquire a weapon, 2 of which being classified currently as "easy/greedy," because of instant shop access; 1-2 being determinant on farming (in whatever form); and the last on blind RNG (Like farming isn't?)

They need to add an ability to actually work for gear; and I mean work, farming is not work, it's tedium for usually lackluster results of time spent. It needs to be hard to get some gear, the gear that shouldn't be in the market or even in the alerts at all (but that isn't happening just yet)

Well to be fair getting resources requires work, it's not completely RNG. You're very likely to get at least like 50 alloy plate when you farm the right mission for it and 100-200 rubedo when you farm the right mission for it.

Though farming is a boring method. Actual challenge will come from well designed boss fights, some people are against this but a good boss fight system would allow people to solo a boss, but give better rewards to those who group up to fight the boss (thus increasing it's difficulty but offering a better reward or a better chance at a better reward. Known as risk vs reward)

  6. Now tell me, CONCEPTUALLY, how are you going to balance something like that? It's what it is DESIGNED for. Close to mid-range combat, which is 90% of the combat in this game.

Easy, there's tons of ways to design a weapon that is effective for close to mid range combat and still give it it's downsides.

Shotguns could have longer reload times, low clip count (make your shots count), have larger spreads at longer distances (making it ineffective to snipe with), and obviously base damage nerfs if necessary.

Lots of these methods were used prior to patch 7.9 except the anti-sniping method of keeping them balanced. The 7.9 nerf was just too extreme.

  7. So if the Glaive was only Alert ? then everyone would have been fine?

Most likely almost everyone. Especially if they actually included more content in this patch.

Right now there's nothing new from this patch, just a massive shotgun nerf, some needed bug fixes, yet another melee weapon (that most people don't want to buy for 150 plat) and really bad melee animation changes.

  8. Ppl don't complain about Heat Daggers (i explain it 100th time in this topic):

Heat Daggers were not in the Market on day1. It was an Alert exclusive, and it took lots and lots of weeks for the BP to appear in the Market

So Glaive and Heat Dagger is not the same issue.

Yep, one was a marketing scheme. (Glaive) The other was an attempt by DE to help players get the weapon (Heat Dagger)

It's not that I'm against paying plat for something I want, I mean I paid for the purely cosmetic sentinel upgrades and have no complaints about them, but besides milking this melee weapon for plat there's no reason for it to be the only weapon on release that can only be gotten from Plat and Alert missions.

I have other melee weapons, I'll survive until an alert pops, I was just looking forward to using the Glaive, but not 150 plat worth looking forward to it and not looking forward to hoping I'm online when an alert pops.

  9. I'm very half-way on the subject, while the spread-balancing is a good way to balance shotguns (look at the Boar and the Strun which were fairly balanced as shotguns if you ask me), the inclusion of a shotgun with an incredibly tight spread (that surpassed over half of the assault rifles down range) made this system difficult.

That said, the way they are now with a drop off starting at, what seems to me, around 5-10 meters, it leaves little room to be desired.

I'd have to agree with Cashew above me, "range" should be in shotguns, however, with less dramatic numbers. Say a drop of starting at 15 or 20 meters.

Yea that sounds fair to me as well.

Shotguns should obviously be a close to mid range weapons, but the current damage reduction is far too extreme.

    -

  10. I'm sure this has probably been suggested already by someone somewhere, just can't find a topic about it, everyone just seems to either being a fanboi to the Shotgun nerf or completely hating it.

So my problem with the range nerf is that it could be much more realistically tackled by increasing the overall spread of shotgun as the pellets travel farther.

This happens to some shotguns in real life and why they can't be used for long range killing, the pellets themselves have a high enough velocity to still do damage for a fairly long range but the pellets themselves spread out so much at longer ranges that the amount of pellets hitting a target decreases.

This would effectively make shotguns not able to snipe targets, but not decrease the damage each individual pellet does at mid to long range, just reduce the number of pellets hitting a target.

Currently the range nerf is a bit extreme when enemies are only 5-10 feet from you and every pellet hits them, but damage is reduced by a large margin.

  11. I haven't had a chance to try or see the new animations myself but I for always hated the whole "slice in half, explode everywhere" thing. It's just so unrealistic and gruesome. I don't know why anyone would really like seeing that in the first place.

Well I don't mind it being different for each melee weapon, I mean daggers wouldn't really cut someone in half would they?

But right now, my Gram charged attack slams into 3 grineer killing them and they just kinda slowly feint like they've got "The Vapors" or something like a southern belle would do rather than actually acting like you would when you just got insta-gibbed by a giant sword.

  12. I've only played 1 online game since 7.9 and I was hosting it. My internet connection was fine but after I started the mission my character froze in place, couldn't move, couldn't shoot. Could access menus just fine and when I aborted was able to start a solo game just fine, but ran into this problem, never had this problem prior to patch 7.9

  13. I don't think many people will notice this but with the new update, you are forced to do a ground stab on mobs right after they die like they are in a knockdown state. it makes fighting a group of mobs with melee weapon very inconvenient since you could be stabbing the same dead mob two three times unintentionally.

    Moved from general discussion.

Yea I noticed this problem as well. It's doing it..

-On mobs that are already dead

-Without even pressing the melee attack button

    -Without even looking downwards

Also don't like the new grineer death animation on melee kills. Much less satisfying than the old "cut in half" animation.

  14. The new melee animations since the new patch are worse off than they were before. Killing grineer with melee just chips away from their ribcage, makes killing them with melee not feel as satisfying. (The old cut in half animation was much better)

Also my character keeps bugging out and doing the downed execution animation on enemies that are already dead and I'm not even looking down when it does it.

I'll add more when I find more problems.

  15. Making it hard to obtain is actually good as it makes the weapon more unique. It's like the Dark Sword before there were so many alerts of it, including that one that lasted like 24 hours.

What I dislike, however, is the fact that it drops from alerts....it's so arbitrary. One could be sleeping or away for 30 minutes and lose it.

I think the Glaive BP should drop from something like very high level defense mission waves, wave 25 or 30 or so. Make it so you have to work for it, rather than being blessed by the RNG god. We already have enough RNG as is.

Sry still awake, too irritated to sleep now lol.

A good reward system would offer you a very challenging mission in order to get a cool reward like the Glaive.

The random alert system adds some fun randomness to the game but no actual challenge.

Buying with plat is fine. I mean I bought the Sentinel cosmetics with plat and they don't even do anything besides look cool and can only be bought with plat. The Glaive on the other hand is both a weapon and overpriced weapon that you can bypass randomly getting from alerts. The fact that they hyped it up then dropped the bomb on us with it being overpriced and only for plat on release.

(For people arguing against the hype. Did anyone even know about the Ankyros and Grataka before the update came out? They mentioned the Glaive twice in livestreams and then it must've been a "coincidence" how much people were looking forward to it that it became the first weapon to come out in a long, long time that can only be gotten from alerts that is also available for plat and an overpriced amount of plat at that.)

Just makes me never want to be excited for anything coming out ever again.

  16. Yes, the availability has precedent, but the way it was presented beforehand was not. They didn't get everyone worked up and excited and anxious for a heat dagger. Like I said, I can live with the availability of the weapon. It was how I found out about the availability that I was not okay with. Waiting for weeks, excited about how awesome it was going to be, hearing it was coming out today, waiting anxiously for the update to come, impatiently waiting for the patching to finish, logging in, going to the marketplace, seeing the buyable with plat version, reaching the last page without seeing the bp, rescanning the weapons section multiple times, going to the forums because I hope it's just a bug, seeing Rebecca confirm it was only available outside of the market in ? alert form, and then that sinking feeling inside.

    Precisely.

We get it, you should be rewarded for the hard work it took to create the Glaive, but you don't have to scam your customers in order for them to support you. You're not EA.

  17. OH MY GOSH, DEVELOPERS ACTUALLY TRY TO MAKE MONEY OFF VIDEO GAMES?! THE HORROR.

Really, people? You really can't wait a bit to find a blueprint? And if you haven't noticed, (correct me if I'm wrong, please) the heat dagger can only be bought with platinum, and can only be found for free through alerts. Nobody freaked out about that. They'll probably have the alert to acquire the glaive soon, it's amazing how much people are freaking out over this.

Says the guy without even a founder's pack?

And yea, heat dagger can only be bought with plat or found on alerts too, but it was never hyped up and it only cost 75 plat.

I'm really &!$$ed off cause I stayed up waiting for the update so I could start crafting the Glaive and could goto bed, now I have to worry whether or not a glaive BP is gonna pop while I'm in dreamland.

Just springing this on the community on such a hyped up weapon without any warning is very messed up.

    Nok,

I make no excuses nor semblance of comprehension on their price pointing of _anything_ in the Market.  As I said, I think the price points are near random to test people's purchasing tolerances.

Is the specific price point out to lunch?  I wouldn't pay it, but I think 75 plat for a colour palette is pointlessly steep and that the Warframe pricing is nonsensical past the 75 Plat trio.  In that you have a point, fair enough.

But you're the first person I saw who reacted to the price point being set, and not the structure of the Glaive's availability.

I think the structure has plenty of precedent in system already, hype notwithstanding.

All I'm trying to get across is I think the structure of this is still fair and even, though the price point may very well be missing the mark as you point out.

There's so many things wrong with hyping it up so much then releasing it for only Plat, the price difference just solidifies the fact that it's an evil marketing scheme.

  20. I have this bad feeling its gonna get nerfed. critting for 700 on mid lvl infested. One shotteing ancients. All charged attacks but still seem strong for mine only being lvl 4, although it has a potato.

Oh and it's insanely OP to boot?

/sarcasm Yea totally not an evil marketing scheme. /sarcasm off

    --

  21. Even if there was a BP for the Glaive in the store, impatient people will still buy it with platinum to skip the build time (+ a built in catalyst).

Exactly, it's just an evil marketing scheme.

"No Glaive for you... unless you pay.. or wait for an insanely rare alert"
