Mmm that there is a pretty large heap of selfishness.

As Someone who got the rift sigil fromThe first event I'm glad it's finally come back for other tenno to get again. Having the rift sigil be "exclusive" for what? 2 years, that's plenty of time to feel special and great about yourself.

Frankly primes chamber should come back too, it's the only event item to never return and there isn't really a good reason for it.

Founders stuff cannot, there are legally binding promises in place and de would open themselves up to a world of trouble they clearly want to avoid.

Im kinda inclined to agree partially with OP. Personally I dont have a problem with bringing items back to players at all.

But Id be pretty salty too if DE, for example, decided to sell the john prodman poster in the market for 1c or something like that considering what it takes to get it to begin with.

I think what OP is trying to say is that items like the rift sigil, in comparison to the original event, is literally being given away with little to no effort required to obtain it.... in turn reducing the value of accomplishment that it used to hold.

I feel like there are other examples as well that have fallen to this "everybody gets a trophy" mentality that has befallen this community over the last 5 years. We should be given the opportunity to earn it again, and not just acquire it because we happen to log on that day.

That's why I'm saying we need to be careful to add challenging, hardmore content, rather than adding what people think of as "endgame" content...
Did you lose track of the conversation?

I shouldn't have to explain bragging rights to somebody who doesn't value bragging rights, or exclusivity to begin with.

I didnt. You are advocating for more challenging content..... with cosmetics as rewards. My point is that cosmetics are useless. Fashion frame is NOT an endgame and should not be treated as such. Im all for challenging content.... and id even run it myself at least once to say I did it. However, im advocating for replay-ability which requires some kind of benefit to doing it.

I dont have a problem with bragging rights or exclusivity. I just want people to earn it, rather than buy it. Me bragging to you about founders stuff just because i bought it and you didnt, seems very petty to me.

  3. 11 hours ago, DrakeWurrum said:

That's fine. Not everybody needs to care about exclusive content. That's usually reserved for people who actually push themselves to do challenging content.

But challenging content does not exist in this game.....

Take the rift sigil for example. The original challenge was worth it. It had limits, restrictions, and enemies lvl 100-150. Of course it could be cheesed, but if you played it legit, it was a decent challenge. Enough so, that the forums blew up with how many people were having trouble completing it.

It was later rewarded in two other tactical alerts as a random RNG reward..... at a fraction of the difficulty in comparison. So whats the point of it now?

    11 hours ago, DrakeWurrum said:

But again, you have to be careful with rewards that are deemed "useful" because if it's too useful, then it can make the challenging content... not so challenging. Very quickly. That's the issue I have with what you're saying.

Again, id argue that challenging content does not exist in this game.... but id love to hear an example of what you are talking about.

The majority of the content is below lvl 100. Our gear alone is enough to carry most inexperienced players through even sortie level content without really knowing what they are doing.

At the same time, content is constantly broken because of how overpowered we really are to begin with.  But I emphasize that rewards do not need to break the game to be useful.

    11 hours ago, DrakeWurrum said:

Well, that's you. There's plenty of us who wish we had spent the money. There's plenty of us who enjoy the bragging rights of exclusive content.

But what is there to brag about? I bought something and you didnt? I happen to spend money in support of the game. People do that every day having spent vast amounts more than the cost of a founders pack. Id tell you you arent missing anything, but you wont believe me.

Aside from founders, theres nothing exclusive in this game. Its either too easy, or you simply have to wait around for it to come again.

  4. 10 hours ago, DrakeWurrum said:

it would have to be a large enough reward to make the challenge worth the effort relative to other content.

Umbra Frames would be a great reward..... for SERIOUS hard content, void of exploits and cheesy gameplay. Basically something thoroughly thought out and developed to promote skillful gameplay where the player has to rely on something more than what meta loadout they bring.

Just my opinion.... cause this game has nothing close to that. At all.

    10 hours ago, DrakeWurrum said:

Nobody but Founders have Excal Prime because they spent money early on in the game, but... on its own, the reward itself is nothing special. Especially now with Umbra - but Umbra is available to ANYBODY who plays. Prime is bragging rights that shows off how long you've been playing this game, and how you were willing to give "your all" to Warframe when it was just starting out.

This is a problem in itself. For the longest time, Prime was no different than normal. Then maybe two years ago when they started buffing all the primes to be considerably different than the base versions.... they gave prime 25 armor more than base. 25 armor... and now finally they buffed prime's armor again when umbra was released to 300.

But thats it. Everything else is identical. On top of that, umbra outclasses both prime and base in EVERY way. Not so many people crying about not having prime anymore now...... conspiracy theory? Maybe thats the whole idea....

Either way, prime wasnt worth it then, and it surely isnt now either, nor were the lato or skana. If i had to do it again, I would not have spent that money.

    10 hours ago, DrakeWurrum said:

And gamers want nothing more than EXCLUSIVE content, cosmetic or not

There are a lot of people like myself who care less about exclusive content... of which there arguably is none in this game except for founders for now...... and care more about useful things that add to the actual gameplay. As it stands now, founders content is completely useless thanks to umbra.

Then you have things like lato and braton vandal which have recently been reintroduced.... and no longer exclusive. Its not even hard to get.

Also there is the rift sigil..... decent challenge to get originally..... then reintroduced a year later through laughable content.

There is not a single thing in this game that can be taken seriously, effectively rendering corresponding content worthless.

Whats gonna happen when the 1000 day login comes up in 50 days? Oh thats right.... we have to have a new login system because players cant be bothered to..... log in.

Id tell you why this is the way it is, but id be getting so far off topic and probably a warning point or temp ban. So ill just say this community thrives off of instant gratification, and DE caters to it. They've been on this whole "everybody gets a trophy" kick for a few years now, and i dont see it ever changing.

The reason i specifically suggested rewards that do not increase player power, and are therefore "useless" is simple...

Power creep results in hardcore content being hardcore for only as long as it takes players to get all the useful rewards.

This is why typical MMO games have a gear treadmill and constantly release "harder" content every so often, resulting in previously released content becoming completely obsolete to the point that players don't even access it anymore. Not even new players who never played it.

A reward does not need to power creep in order to be useful. Elite onslaught is a good example. Weapon sets can be farmed and sold for platinum, all relics are radiant, and its great for xp/focus.

now.. if the only reward was cosmetics or a peculiar mod? Nobody would play it.

  6. Here is the answer you dont want to hear. Keep practicing until you can do it without powers.

That way, next time you get it, it wont be an issue. If you can master this.... you'll be miles ahead of the SOLID majority of the playerbase in this game in more ways than one.

I usually use a braton. Its easier when they come straight at you, but not required. Just dont shoot them in the back. I tend to try to shoot the very bottom tip so i dont risk hitting the pilot.

I think he's saying Umbra shouldn't revive at all since you're already in operator form which is much safer to revive players/npcs.

But other specters do too..... how is that any different from another specter summoned, stopping what its doing to revive somebody?

And Isnt that part of what makes umbra special? It acts as a specter when switched to your operator. If thats not desirable, we have excalibur/prime options to use instead.

I guess im just having a hard time comprehending what the actual issue is

  8. 58 minutes ago, RobWasHere said:

Umbra Excalibur has specter AI. Specters rush to the operative to revive him whenever he/she is down, but that means no abilities used by such specters. While it not hurts when using Clem, Excal Umbra not howling or exalting blade hurts survivability.

So you are saying that every other specter uses powers while reviving the operative?

Or are you saying umbra is special and should cast powers while reviving?

Im pretty sure we cant use powers or shoot or attack while reviving anything either....

I don't think that harpoon animations are subject to accuracy level-scaling.  Scorpions lead their harpoons at level 10 as well as they do at 155.  Ancients barely even lead at all, though.

Does the animation actually matter? Ive seen enemy fire come out of the back of their heads sometimes lol

Edit: oh and dont get me wrong though.... I dont even think this is even an issue at all. Even though i get yanked out of the air from time to time.... scorpions and ancients are a non-issue usually. I think a lot of hit usually are due to player error. Sometimes it cant be helped, but usually if you really look at the situation, it can be seen that the person was either slowing down for too long, stopped moving for too long, or wasnt paying attention to their iron skin getting shot off.

  10. 41 minutes ago, RealPandemonium said:

Test it for yourself.  See if there's any difference between level 100 Scorpion and level 10 Scorpion.  There isn't.   I wouldn't make these claims if I didn't test them.

I actually did test this when i saw my two friends contradicting each other 😛

So i loaded up 5 lvl 155 scorpions. I jumped from the platform over to the end of the map and even over their heads. i was immediately yanked from the air and killed. I tried it a few more times and was able to jump around and parkour for ~ 30-60 seconds before being yanked down and killed. So testing was inconsistent.

I remember a long time ago when Steve commented on parkour 2.0 before it was launched. He said on a dev stream "the more ninja you are.. the less you'll get hit". This always makes me laugh every time I DO get yanked right out of the air. It doesnt happen often, but it does happen. You guys know im not one to stand around smelling the flowers either, especially with an average of less than 20s in the dojo course. Its hard for me to not move fast all the time as its second nature now.

I do also recall enemy accuracy supposed to be increasing as level increases. i can also confirm scorpions leading their shots with their harpoons at level 155. The ones that missed, i did see in front of me as i initially jumped in.

To be fair a lot of those Arcanes are pretty powerful.  Raids were such a headache with pubs that people burnt out.  I feel the same about Eidolon hunts; it's frustrating and not Warframe-like, so I burnt out and don't bother any more.

I find it funny, though, that the culture of milking Void keys with long runs disappeared after the Fissures update, but endless Fissures that give actual scaling rewards aren't nearly as popular.

They are now, but they didnt used to be. A lot of the arcanes were buffed with the move to Eidolons. Now, the arcanes are worth far more on the market for those willing to farm them. Btw, we're usually doing 3 runs per night cycle and usually a man short if you would like to join us.

I think the lack of popularity with endless fissures comes down to having to burn a relic in order to gain a scaling reward. Unless you are finished with syndicates and can buy relic packs daily, or are running SO/ESO daily for focus, I dont think relics are acquired fast enough for people to burn repeatedly.

I'll concede here, as it's largely a subjective matter at this point, and I can't honestly speak for the OP.

But a way that it can be looked at, is a competition regarding contribution.

How long would it take you to hunt/kill an Eidolon with your gearing setup vs. a new player?

Would you yourself willingly enter a match-up with another player, when you know you're likely to do less than 1% of the work, even when trying?

How much of this is because of player skill, vs artificial limitations already surpassed by the player with more time investment?

Being an MMO, these artificial limitations serve to divide the player-base and give a structured 'journey' along which players are equals. Which is a good thing. But as time moves on, and these limitations (content gates) add up, this creates walls between different groups of players, that will serve to deter people from mingling with one another, even if that isn't their desire.

Warframe for the most part hasn't had something like this before. At most the time-gate was a few days to grind out the 'meta' weapon and frame, and you're good to go for any-kind of content (especially since you could just get a taxi to whatever planet you needed, skipping node progression).

But now with Rivens, The Umbral Mods, Operator+Amps, Focus, what's 'meta' is gradually accruing a larger and larger time investment.

Its all subjective at this point really, including contribution.

But no, I would not enter a public match-up without being sure that I at the very least wouldnt contribute negatively.... simply out of courtesy. However, among clanmates, I would, and I also welcome it from others. In order to gain experience, you must actually experience.

My expectation of others is not to be able to contribute, but merely learn and strive to improve. Contribution comes naturally after experience is gained. My biggest issue with public games are the ones that think they have nothing left to learn.

When the plains first launched, even my team fumbled and bumbled around figuring things out. After a week it wasnt a big deal anymore. Now we teach others who have less experience.

The "meta" has always been a large time investment, simply do to the fact that it is forever changing. Every time DE launches a hotfix, the meta changes. A new weapon or frame is introduced, or a fully forma'd weapon or frame gets nerfed, or the game changes in some other way that causes people to scramble to buy rivens for a weapon they previously thought to have been garbage.

Personally i never followed the meta. It tends to detract from the basics too much. People tend to get lost in the meta and forget how to actually play.

And player "catch-up", is only silly if you view the game from a single-player perspective, rather than an MMO perspective.

Its silly in both perspectives. Who would you be trying to catch up to? Somebody like me whos been playing for 5 years and has 3600 hours in the game? Perhaps somebody else with similar hours as the op? Who is really to say who is ahead at that point when so many different paths can be taken? Who exactly is the competition here? Even if OP and I traded accounts for a day, somebody like myself with so much more experience would run circles around him anyways because there is no shortcut for that.

This isnt a race, its a journey. That journey will be personal and different for every player.

OP is looking for a solution that feeds instant self gratification. Most of the time, ideas, suggestions, or solutions that are founded from that concept are usually very bad.

  14. 5 hours ago, A-Midnight-Shanking said:

but doesn't really address OP's concern: When a new player doesn't have a lot of time on their hands, there isn't an easy way for them to catch up (Affinity/Standing farming)

This argument would be completely valid..... if we purchased this game up front. However, we did not, but we do have all of those things already in the form of boosters, prime access packs, platinum purchases to facilitate those transactions, etc etc.

If there were a large scale way for players to "catch up" (silly concept to begin with) that didnt involve platinum, then players would max out content in a couple months.... and the revenue to keep developing this game would be non-existent.

There are many many many issues with this game.... but making suggestions without considering the business aspect that keeps this game going is irresponsible. Some of the suggestions in this thread would be suicide for this game and its development.

OP simply needs to figure out his priorities in life, make time where he can, and decide if spending platinum from time to time is worth it for his gaming experience with what little time he might allocate for it.

  15. Im at around 3600 hrs and have been around since update 8 or 9 or something. As a veteran, I am constantly looking for something to do and wishing things took longer.

Before onslaught, I had one full school completed, and about half my way-bound abilities unlocked. Since post onslaught release.... i have finished all schools, except for 3 full abilities yet to be unlocked and leveled. Im estimating those to be finished before the weekend is over. I was actually disappointed that they increased the daily limit.

Ill yet again be looking for something else to keep me busy.

This is a free to play game. It is designed in such a way to nudge players in the direction of spending actual money.... seeing as how we've spent none to play it in the first place. For example, if you are upset with the rate at which you are acquiring xp/focus/standing, you have the option of purchasing a booster from the market. That seems fair to me.

I would say relax, enjoy the game, and be thankful of the journey you will have for however long it takes..... but only the veterans here would truly understand why, no matter how i explain it. Perhaps one day there will be substantial content for end game...

The funny thing is... we can spend money to get to the end faster, but we cant spend money on anything to keep us busy. Id gladly spend money on something to do.
