  1. 1. Nullifiers:

I understand why people hate them - they force you to actively adjust tactics when the game has taught players to just press the 4 button repeatedly.  I welcome any enemy that requires you to actually be strategic.  The constant hate is a byproduct of how simplistic but utterly effective spamming an ability is in every other situation.

    2. Starmap 3.0:

Why are there MORE nodes than before when the original intent was to reduce choice ("too much choice is no choice at all")? The only thing this seems to have "solved" is it killed Draco which was actually fun when it wasn't being super-cheesed (but that is a separate design flaw altogether).  Navigation I dare say is even clunkier.

    3. Void 2.0:

Wow.  Just wow.  T4 Survival and Defense at least presented a challenge when you aimed for 40ish (min/rd). Now, closing rifts presents a chaotic but extremely manageable 3 min "challenge" that has been nerfed already due to the whining about the only 2 enemies which made it interesting - Nullies and Bombards.  It's boring and repetitive and in too many cases unrewarding (even if you can choose from teammates rewards).  100 Void Traces just to buff ONE key means closing 8-11 rifts which feels like work, not fun, especially when that rare item still doesn't drop and there has been NO memorable gaming experience proceeding it in the least.

I like that you attempt to iterate and evolve the game.  But I feel [DE] fell well short of their cited goals over the past several DevStreams with this update.  I, like many veterans, play Warframe for the core game - not Archwing, not Conclave, and not Lunaro.  This update, so far, feels like a huge step backwards in giving veterans something to do that seems worthwhile and rewarding.  I may continue to do Sorties (which I was already being inconsistent with) but find little else of interest since I avoid Raids which are [DE] sanctioned Press 4 to Win fests anyway.

  2. DE,

It's the forums so everyone will cry if they can't just press 4 repeatedly and watch everything die.  I hope you stick to your guns and maybe make tweaks but please don't cave to the outcry of the Press 4 to Win kiddies.

Pressing one button repeatedly to ridiculous effectiveness might be good for a mobile game targeted to 3-5 yr olds but isn't the type of depth or interesting gameplay expected in a modern 3rd person "action" shooter - Free to Play or no.

  3. Yes, I am a LONG time player as well who just recently hit MR11 precisely because I play only what I find interesting or fun.  The idea of sitting in a mission and Pressing 4 to Win simply to level the newest weapon/frame fodder in the most "efficient" way is anathema to me.

I would scoff at MR level requirements in Recruiting because High Mastery usually means someone spent an absurd amount of time levelling weapons and frames they barely used other than to rank to 30.  That is no indication of skill whatsoever.

I will take my time to get to MR12 simply because I do want to use the new syndicate weapons.  But I refuse to just level crap to do it.  I want to play a game, not take on a second, very mundane job.

If it hasn't already been stated you *should* get experience for unlocking nodes in the star chart.

  4. There is a large and vocal faction in the forums who prefer to keep the "action" out of this 3rd party action shooter because it's "fun" to press the same button repeatedly or faceroll 98% of the content to farm in relative peace.

However, there seems to be a greater number of threads calling for balance of frames and weapons which I believe indicates the playerbase is maturing and looking for deeper and more rewarding gameplay experience.

You'll always have those who want to make the "grind" as efficient and painless as possible.  But the so-called grind is the nature of the Free to Play model of which there are alternatives to getting that next shiny you *must* have.

I'm all for any changes that creates a legitimate challenge for players that isn't infinitely scaling health and damage of enemies.

  5. That there are actually players whining you can't use a powerful syndicate mod with powerful AOE on another powerful Syndicate weapon with a baked in powerful AOE proc kind of epitomizes the kind of Warframe players who complain about obvious nerfs because PvE games don't need to be balanced.

Gaming used to be about overcoming a challenge using a combination of strategy, intellect, dexterity, or just plain stubbornness (trial and error).

Now it's about instant gratification and pure power fantasy (all reward/zero risk) embodied in Press 4 to Win gameplay and requests like this..

No, I'm not against "fun" which being OP is constantly referred to as.  I'm just saying there is a deeper, and more sustainable sense of satisfaction which comes from not facerolling content.  Try it out.

  6. Yes, they flubbed up with a MR rating of 12 needed to use the new Syndicate Primaries.

I've played a ridiculous amount of Warframe for about 2 years and have an MR of 10 because I play what I find interesting and fun.  I've no interest in "mastery fodder" and farming xp by being uber-efficient like 3/4ths of the player base who repeatedly sit in Draco and Press 4 to Win.

Until now Mastery Rank was simple busy work - something to do to artificially keep people playing.  I'd rather have a dynamic, interactive, and challenging gameplay experience than simply level weapons and frames to 30 as quickly and painlessly as possible so I can do it all over again with another weapon and frame.

Disappointed [DE].  I hope they reconsider.

  7. Relatively long animations is likely the only balance inherent in the maneuver.  It's invulnerability and huge damage.

He probably wants fast animations so its more "efficient" when spamming Radial Blind to safely play the game.

If your idea of playing a 3rd person action shooter with Ninjas is to press the same button continuously and watch a repetitive animation then be prepared to have a lot of downtime waiting for the animations to complete.

  8. Since Parkour 2.0 and the fact no one actually used Tonkor to rocket jump from the get-go its time to bring it in line with all the other explosive weapons - specifically Self-Damage.

Explosive weapons are powerful for a reason.  It's offset with the fact you have to use some finesse to avoid blowing yourself up in the process.  Tonkor omits this balance requirement and is it any real wonder why it's so popular?

Just run into a pack of enemies press fire, take a grenade to the face, and have the entire lot obliterated.  Fun maybe and imbalanced definitely.

Yes, its fun to be imba and OP but after awhile it (should) loses it's appeal as you realize there is no skill involved and it's increasingly unsatisfying and bad for the game.

Yes, [DE] should take the brunt of the blame for failing to balance this weapon months ago probably when they removed the ability to affect/troll other players.

  9. I'm loving these balance threads that are popping up.  I think it shows the playerbase as a whole is maturing and no longer satisfied with pressing the same button over and over for the sake of pretty numbers.

If they won't add cooldowns to pace the overpowered nature of ultimates then:

    1. Cap range so no one frame can literally blow up the entire map

    2. Diminishing returns

    3. Enemy resistance to CC based off type

    4. Cap number of enemies affected for all frame powers

    5. Line of sight reliant

  10. Excalibur was my go to frame because of his aesthetics and specifically because he wasn't another Press 4 to Win frame.  The rework ruined his gameplay for me. Exalted Blade is a simple point and shoot, Spam E to Win mechanic heralded as a success by the community specifically because its easy and overpowered.(Although not as overpowered as it once was, eh Excalibros? )

If Umbra is a cool looking rework of the rework that tones down his over the top broken Exalted Blade then I may be interested in a purchase and bring Excal back into the fold.

  11. Volt is fine the way he is.  People just want to turn him into another Press 4 to Win frame because Overload doesn't blow up the entire map.

And if people are complaining about "end game viability" due to the placeholder, infinite scaling enemies...this is NOT end game.  Enemies who are bullet sponges and can down you with a dirty look forcing you to cower in a corner and spam abilities is [DE]'s way of saying they ran out of ideas on how to challenge gamers and you should have probably extracted 5 minutes ago.

  12. Vacuum is a great example of how efficiency and convenience trump almost every other consideration when it comes to Warframe or perhaps even, modern gaming.  It's why Greedy Pull Mag was so ubiquitous despite the extreme shift it caused in playstyle to literally static button pressing in the most non-interactive way possible.

I exclusively use Wyrm because the AOE knockdown is so useful when actually playing the game (and not Pressing 4 to Win).  I know other gamers would explore the other Sentinels if it wasn't for Vacuum.

That is why I *would* support a Vacuum precept for all Sentinels (or equivalent for Kubrows) because it's a convenience that at least doesn't trivialize the game since movement around the map is still required.

  13. You came to the wrong place to talk balance.

If someone on the forums calls something "fun" then you know it's ridiculously overpowered like Exalted Blade currently is

Or nothing is imbalanced because 2 hrs into T4 it no longer one shot things.

I had to retire Excalibur who was my main because he became a one trick pony.  Hit 4 once and then proceed to spam the hell out of E all day.

"At least its not an AOE nuke!"

  14. [DE] is their own worst enemy and not because they nerfed/balanced everything the OP mentioned.  Not only were the nerfs badly needed but they stopped short in my opinion of the extent to which they trivialized the game.  They screw themselves for not properly testing these things BEFORE they are released to the general public to be min/max'ed to the point their exploitability becomes obvious.

Make a freaking test server and let people expose the weaknesses in design and then FIX it before people like the OP rely on it like a crutch and then whine when it gets taken away.

There are still abilities that should have been corrected A LONG TIME ago like Peacemaker that [DE] dare not even whisper about for fear of the backlash despite how broken it is.

  15. Yes, Loki seems to be in every mission nowadays thanks to how faceroll he makes the game spamming his 4 ("at least it's not an AOE nuke!")

It would be a fascinating and exciting development if, after losing their guns, enemies busted out Dual Cleavers, and Attarax, and whatever faction specific melee weapons there are to go medieval on our asses.

Losing range is still a huge detriment making the ability useful but it would be nice if it didn't trivialize the whole mission with repeated spamming which is the Achilles heel of Warframe right now.

  16. If we can have skins of guns, melee, and warframes for flavor/variety then why not skins swapping a frames supposed gender?

If there's a market for it, which I think there would be, then it's a good idea for the players and [DE].

  17. Mastery level is largely a joke  It's busywork to keep you playing and barely translates to anything worthwhile in game. (Admittedly certain top tier guns are locked behind it but that's about it.)

While I agree high Mastery does mean a player typically has many hours in game but doing what exactly?  Likely standing in a spot soaking up XP using the most "efficient" means possible (i.e. Press 4 to Win).  That certainly doesn't translate into "skill" but it does mean they acknowledge that Warframe gameplay can be marginalized, trivialized, and circumvented to a large extent by just pressing the same button over and over.

That isn't the type of player I hope for in a match as I actually like to play the game whether I'm farming or not.  I was probably a bigger fan of Conclave as a measure of whether a player could hang in a match but it's largely ignored since certain frames could have a few mods and zero weapons and absolutely turn a mission into a joke (see Slow Nova).

  18. Looking at Equinox's kit early on it was clear [DE] made another Press 4 to Win frame.  That it would take a little while for broken builds to be discovered and exploited and disseminated to the player base at large is expected.

If it becomes "Need Mesa" bad in Recruiting chat that's just another frame I'll have to ban when I want to host and actually play the game.

  19. As an avid Ash player I was pleasantly surprised to hear they were introducing a unit that could *see* through stealth.  Like everything else broken in this game that trivializes content Stealth is practically godmode.  I use it sparingly when I can as I enjoy challenge and this sounds like it ups it (potentially) for Ash/Loki players.

If they do it right you'll have scores of players crying for a nerf to catbrow handlers because they now have to be strategic.  Here's hoping [DE], despite the Free to Play nature of Warframe, do not cave to the outcry.

And for those complaining that they *need* uninterruptable Stealth to survive "endgame" I do not count 1 hr+ T4 as true endgame when the only challenge is enemies become bullet sponges that can down you with a dirty look.  That topic has been discussed exhaustively and I also hope is addressed in Sentients.

  20. The community *likes* what is overpowered because:

    1. It's fun to faceroll things... until the novelty wears off and you realize (if ever) it's safe, repetitive, and largely non-interactive

    2. You refuse to pay money and feel obligated to run the same missions and must be efficient

    3. It feels "bad" to end up on your back needing the assistance of your teammates

    4. [DE] put it in the game so it must be how they want you to play until they don't...and balance/nerf it

  21. While I find this only mildly interesting in a "Guiness Record for Longest Fingernails" kind of way it's troublesome that it *could* result in the next popular exploit.

Not many people would really want to play Warframe for 8 straight hours and it's still a huge design problem that veterans have to play 40 min of T4 to get a decent challenge.  Then 5 min later resume spamming abilities to stay alive.

Here's hoping they get Sentients right and present vets with a fun challenge that doesn't include chaining CC to trivialize it or copycats of whatever cheese this guy used here.

  22. So after I finished a mission in the Void I went to Triton where, whenever I pressed a button to use a frame power, I would get a "Power already in use" message and corresponding error sound.

Thinking it was a bug for the mission I continued using only my weapons.  However I've tried several missions on multiple frames since then and when I press any frame power nothing happens now.  Not even a message or error sound.

I am quite perplexed as I've seen no other posts with this type of game breaking, perpetual glitch.

  23. I will never understand the desire to faceroll in a modern 3rd person action shooter even though I get the pure power fantasy some people want to maintain.  The onus falls on [DE] who have done a poor job in testing/balancing things BEFORE they are released to the public.  I've argued for a test server so all bugs and exploits can be caught early instead of proliferating in the game only to be fixed later (sometimes MUCH later) with corresponding public backlash from people like the OP.

I for one play games for the satisfaction of overcoming a challenge.  I understand that because its a Free to Play game it can be grindy and some people for the sake of, let's call it "efficiency", are content to push the same button repeatedly.  I applaud [DE] for any balance changes that preserve the integrity of their game even while shaking my head that such changes weren't implemented beforehand.
