I could see that working too. honestly any permanent opt out option would be appreciated.

honestly I get it. I try not to abandon missions over volt speed, but if its an endless mode like duviri I often leave after one round.

That could maybe work as well, but then if one member of the team wants the buff, we all are getting it. and ultimately the volt player could just go into settings, invert that to be press for squad buff/hold for self buff and we are right back where we started. I would still prefer a duration increase I think. to at least make it so im backflipping less regardless. or maybe after I backflip like 3 times, i just dont get the buff anymore until i backflip 3 more times. sounds like a coding nightmare though. hell, at this point id almost prefer a popup that i have to click on lol.

Sorry if this whole thing comes across as a rant, I don't mean to sound that upset. I just have really been having an irritating time playing public matches lately and I genuinely think this might be a decent fix that works for everyone. Also sorry if there is already a similar thread, but i couldn't find it using the search bar. I basically never go onto the forums, but I have been seeing a ton of Volt players lately. And while I'm happy they are enjoying Volt, I am not. Volt speed is technically a really good buff, we all like to do things fast. My problem here is that im 30 years old and tired. Bullet jumping is plenty for my brain to handle. TBH I don't even love wisps movement speed buff, but at least that's a consistent change that i can get used to (it helps that it also tends to be more mild). I see Volt players slamming out speed constantly, the buff lasts a handful of seconds, and then they are casting it again. so the gameplay loop for me is - volt casts speed, I backflip to remove the buff, 5 seconds later volt is casting speed again, I backflip, repeat. It is really really annoying. to the point where I am sometimes asking players via chat to not use a buff that they like, because it either gives me a headache or makes me a little barfy, and that just sucks. I never want to be in a situation where I'm asking someone to stop trying to be helpful. In my mind, the easiest solution is just to make the buff last like 30 seconds at base, maybe even higher. That's a really simple to make numbers tweak that alleviates a problem that I know I'm not alone in having, while technically being a slight buff to volt. I would still be backflipping every 30 seconds, but that's a lot better than every 5ish. the change that would be a whole lot more cool to see is a slider in the options menu that just lets me opt out entirely or opt out of specifically the movement speed, but I dont have any clue how much work goes into that on the development side. I know its not a huge deal for most people, so I doubt anything will come of it. I do think there is a decent sized chunk of people that would like this change though, Volt players included hopefully.
