That's actually what I thought back when I started playing the game. I remember when I first crafted frost and then played corpus mission. I remember I exploded some freeze filled barrel I thought like wtf. Frost, a frame that is supposed to freeze enemies, can get freezed as well? What the actual #*!%. That just defies all logic.

It would be kind of broken for a frame like Saryn to have immunity to a common and powerful damage type like poison while frames like Mag, Ember, or Volt can do a whole mission without even seeing an enemy that deal magnetic, fire, or electric damage respectively.

Current gas at 10 procs is no more than 7 meters. In a standard Simulacrum formation for 8x spawns, it's impossible to affect the entire group when firing at the fringe targets. It seems to scale from ~3m to ~6.5m or something. It has no fall-off, so range is probably ok. If the damage is made into something meaningful, it would be enough, without turning any weapon into Bramma equivalent.

Huh thought they said it was going to be like 12 in the devstream must be remembering it wrong.

  3. First reaction to Gas damage changes vs lv 100 enemies

Gas damage shouldn't push enemies away from the source. It seems to stagger unaware enemies away from the gas source.

    1. It doesn't do well versus any faction

         A. Gas damage doesn't proc toxin and bypass shields so it no longer is useful against Corpus espescially if they have a shield drone up.

         B. The slow Heavily armored units don't care about gas damage while light armor units are fast enough to run out of proc range.

         C. Infested already die pretty quickly so it's difficult to build up procs against them and ancient healers prevent the light units from getting the proc and any unit close to the healer takes no damage so it doesn't matter.

    2. No weapon can take advantage of gas proc properly.

         A. The proc deals damage in an AoE based on your damage so you want high damage weapons for a stronger proc.

         B. Snipers can't proc often enough to get the AoE to affect enough enemies

         C. Fast firing automatic weapons don't deal enough damage per shot to make building for gas worthwhile. You have a large AoE that doesn't deal enough damage.

    3.  The main problem with gas is that weapons that can proc a lot of gas either don't deal enough damage or benefit more from other status while high damage weapons usually can't benefit from multiple gas procs and don't really get any use from the AoE. I personally think gas still needs some tweaks for it to be worth using.

         A. Making the gas AoE always 12 meters would  make it much better for high damage weapons like snipers

         B. If the procs had no cap like fire procs it would be better for fast firing automatic weapons.

         C. I would personally change gas procs to add a percentage of the targets health as damage to the AoE so you would target high health enemies like Bombards,Techs, and Ancients and when they die the gas AoE takes care of the light units.

         D. Another possible change would to be to keep the 12 radius but only have gas procs appear on the death of the target and have the percent based damage. It would deal an explosion of gas damage on death based on number of procs and the cloud damage would be based a % on the target's max health.

yes we did, I've robbed a few treasury ships in my time. this was before we got Ivara though, so I always solo'd it with Loki like any other Spy mission.

besides, we have The Index, we don't really need Treasury ships anymore.

But Treasury ships played completely different than the Index. Index after a few runs is super boring, either you're dominating or being destroyed by hyper leveled enemies, while Treasury ships were one of the best mixes of tough enemies with the Hyena pack being a difficult but not unplayable addition. I just wish they had a Treasury ship with Grineer and Infested enemies.

I was a Grandmaster Jewelcrafter in World of Warcraft, I don't want to hear this nonsense about mining being "boring". You have no idea what "boring" is.

So because you did something boring in a differnet game no one else can want something to be less boring.

That's like someone telling a burn victim "You think that's bad try being stuck in a burning building." What's the benefit here. These aren't even remotely similar games so why would it matter that one of them had something more boring than this. That sounds like it sucked so why would you not want it to improve?

Okay.  So what?  What does that have to do with my comment?

I said "I think the reason players don't like to swap weapons is because..."  In no way did I make my opinion factual.

If you don't like to swap weapons, then that's you.

The point i was making is that not all players fit within the statements the original post made.  When you make as statement like this "Currently, in warframe, the only reasons to switch weapons are either if weapon can't reach enemy or you're out of ammo on primary", you are stating it as a fact that is across the board.

My point is that I am a player that takes all weapons into a mission with tactics in mind, and when i switch weapons, i do it for tactical reasons.  My comment about begin "addicted to metas" is not wrong, though it is my opinion.  I can back it up from testimonies of being on a team with players that cared nothing more then using Simulacor (don't remember how to spell it), because that was the meta of that time.  Before that, i remember when everyone only used Soma Prime.

When I enter a mission, i have a few things in mind.  What will i do if i get shot down and what weapon would be most effective for my gameplay if that happens?  What if my machine gun proves ineffective, will my secondary do the trick when i need it?  What if i just need to focus on melee more so than shooting, what weapon should i use for this and to help me stay alive during the mission?  I'm never a one-weapon player.  In other words, lacking ammo or difficulty with enemy reach are not the only reasons to switch weapons.

But you don't need to switch weapons for any other reasons than the one's he listed. You could easily play the whole game with just 1 well built weapon (not counting Sorties). There are very few situations where you need any tactics beyond kill everything or solve a simple puzzle which don't require weapon switching. Even when you are using a sniper rifle there isn't any form of tactics beyond "shoot dude in head"

People don't switch even with non-meta weapons and there are way more reasons than simply it's the "Meta". Someone could be trying out a weapon for the first time, it could one of their personal favorites, or the mission could simply be too short for any meaning weapon swapping to occur. It also doesn't help that weapon swap mods are all pretty bad overall. Would you choose swap speed over Damage, status chance, crit, power strength, range, efficiency, or an augment?

Weapon swapping also doesn't have any beneficial mods. For example the Acolyte mods that encourage a certain playstyle  by giving buffs based on accomplishing a goal but there are no mods that do anything remotely close for weapon swapping. If DE wanted people to swap weapons they would create a mod that buffs Status, Crit, or some ability stats when you headshot  an enemy, gives a buff to swapping speed, and lasts for like 20 seconds and stacks.

Imagine a swap speed mod that gives a Crit buff for primary, Status for secondary, and an Attack Speed buff for melee when you make a kill but it only actives when you kill an enemy with your primary, secondary, and melee within 5 seconds but buff lasts for 15 and can be refreshed. It would make swapping worthwhile and give you a reason to swap weapons beyond I ran out of Ammo and don't have Carrier.

It's not the "Meta" that stops people from swapping it's the terrible execution. Swapping isn't interesting enough to justify having the slow speed and is only useful with a small pool of weapons. There's no real reason to use swap speed mods for such a terrible mechanic when you could just not swap at all. The worst part is that this could all be fixed by making swapping faster. The ability to combo weapons would be amazing but isn't feasible because by the time you switch the weapon effect that wanted to combo with is already over.

I switch weapons all the time.  What are you talking about?

Ammo isn't normally a problem for me either.

i think the reason players don't like to swap weapons is because they are addicted to their metas.

    No real tactics.

    Wut?

Players don't switch weapons because it doesn't feel good to switch weapons. Every time I switch my weapons it feels so out of place with the fast and fluid gameplay that I'm used to. It's so slow and we have to go through the whole holstering and unholstering action each and every time when in other games there's a quick transition between weapon swapping that allows you to change for the situation. There also isn't much reason to switch when you can bullet jump to your target in a few seconds. Even if you don't bullet jump to them someone else will kill them with their guns or abilities making it almost pointless to change your weapons because by the time you do the enemy is already dead.

I don't think Prime trailers can be taken as fact. They are fancy, yes. But the content of those trailers does not prove chronology. Vauban and Valkyr fight what looks to be modern Corpus, same for Banshee and Nekros with the Grineer. Additionally, Titania should be a prime from the very start. She predates Saryn in a chronological sense. Question is, by how much.

There's no lore reason why VaubanP and Valkyr (although I will admit her prime and Nova P for that matter don't make any sense lorewise) can't fight current enemies. The whole point of primes are that they are Orokin Relics which can only be built using parts from opened relics. The primes were created in the past but we found the blueprints and parts to create them now and they exist in the current time.

I think the whole Titania thing is simply because DE releases the normal versions first, then release the primes in real life but with assumption that Primes exist but we the players don't have access to them yet.

Point is, Ballas's narration are about the Frame type, but not of the prime itself.

I agree that SOME prime items are in essence "first generation" or somesuch. Ankyros and Burston are the ones who's descriptions clearly state that the Primes did come first. And in some items I am even not sure they match with the normal version, Sicarus for example. Though they are both three round burst pistols, their operating mechanism looks wildly different. Some of them are "first" most are ceremonial or simply mastercrafted veteran versions of existing equipment, refined and given an artist's touch.

The tenno probably make the normal weapons but might change something out of preference or just difficultly to recreate without the original blueprints. Also do you have any evidence to base the assumption that they are "ceremonial or simply mastercrafted veteran versions of existing equipment," I always thoought that Primes came first but the Tenno recreate them using more available materials that aren't quite as good as the originals.

Basically, "Prime" is a current era classification for any item that is made of Orokin era components or is made using Orokin era blueprints and that follows a set aesthetic design.

Finally, and this is just my opinion an view that base why I think this way is that I believe just blankly saying "Primes cames first." diminishes the concept or Prime. It narrows it down to such a bland and boring thing with little room for interesting implied developments. And most of them look like trash.

If you believe that Primes are "any item that is made of Orokin era components or is made using Orokin era blueprints" then they would have to be first because there are no more Orokin (at least not any capable of creating anything from scratch) to create new primes only Primes we have and Primes we will have "discovered" in the future.

I think Vandals and Wraiths are suitable substitutes for Primes and DE could create a whole new Term for improved Sentient weapons. There just aren't enough Sentient weapons to really make it worthwhile.

Indeed. Fang Prime is probably one of the worst Primed weapons out there. And many outdated Primes need some love too, like the old Scindo Prime which is completely outclassed by the new Galatine Prime.

I don't like it when DE just keep the power creep going : New weapons are getting more & more powerful in every aspect and this is a stright insult to those who love their good old stuff. Imagine this : When you finally complete your ultimate Scindo Prime build and then DE say "forget this old Primed sh1t and get yourself a Galatine Prime with more damage, faster attack speed and higher status chance !"

As much as it sucks to have your gear outclassed there isn't anything stopping you from using your old weapons. They haven't nerfed the Scindo P they just introduced a better option. The Scindo P is exactly as effective as it was before the Galantine P.

There will likely be changes with the release of the deluxe skin. None of these qualify as changes so much as totally changing what she does. The first is no longer Pull but a totally new ability with the same name. The second is vaguely reasonable. The third just means every subsequent Polarize cast do less damage, the proposed augment having nothing to do with magnetism. Why should Crush be one handed? Is there another frame with an instant damage 4th that's one handed?

Fair critiques for the most part but I should probably explain that the Polarize I imagined shouldn't do damage at all and should just reduce the shields/armor of enemies while boosting ally shields. I believe Crush should be 1 handed because when you compare it to other stasis abilities like Rhino's stomp (Lock's you in place for the initial cast but the duration is much longer than the cast time) or Vauban's Bastille (which is just suspends enemies for a while and is 1 handed) it seems clear that simply making the casting animation not take up half the time the ability is active would significantly improve the ability.

  11. You guys know the deal; new Mag deluxe skin with a high chance of some Mag changes.

    1. Pull
      1. Make it a projectile that sucks nearby enemies towards the point where it hit into a neat pile.
        1. Augment Suggestion: Change the augment to instead create a ball of enemies that stick together and suck in nearby enemies before releasing them (can increase the duration of the ball o enemies by casting Pull at it.) Smack it with you melee weapon take make Katamari
    2. Magnetize
      1. It's fine as is just make the Augment innate.
        1. Augment Suggestions: The Magnetize bubble removes armor/shield shards based on the damage the enemies in the bubble takes. Ex: Bombard takes 300 damage and creates a 300 damage shard which floats around doing damage (The shards don't create more shards) the Bombard doesn't lose any armor.
    3. Polarize
      1. Make it reduce armor/shields by percent (maybe like 30%). The initial shield boost should be able to give overshields and while teammates are withing Polarize they get constant shield regen and increased regen speed.
        1. Augment Suggestions: Clears all status' on allies
    4. Crush
      1. Make it one-handed; god why isn't this already a thing.
        1. Augment Suggestions: IDK she fires a Magnetic laser using her weird dome. I don't really have an idea for a cool and refreshing new augment but her current one works pretty well.

Most of these suggestions are pretty unbalanced but you get the general idea. Make Mag more interesting! She has Magnetize as her defining skill but she kinda flops with her other abilities. Pull is unreliable, Polarize doesn't do heck all at high levels, and Crush is the worst ability in the game. Played her as my first frame and loved her ability to nuke but when the redesign came I respected the devs decision to try and make her more versatile but I resented the fact that she went from pressing 3 all game to pressing 2 all game. That's my 2 cents.

So what you're telling me now, is that 1 year ago, the game was balanced. Now it isn't.

Also, "Rushing through spraying everywhere" only happens on low levels. You have to make every bullet count with an automatic. With semis, you just turn the autoclicker on and heck, don't even bother using Ammo case/mutation.

I don't think you understand how warframe works. Newer weapons are either Mastery Fodder or straight upgrades to older weapons. The Soma Prime is older than the Dex Sybaris and therefore the Dex will outclass it.

It was supposed to be 5. Players abused bugs to do the runs faster, so the event ended faster. Could blame DE, but they're not all to blame.

How can you blame players for playing the game. I blame the fact that you only needed 1 key from 1 player to get in so a group of 4 essentially got 4 runs. They also made all Gorgun Wraith and Puncture mods have a low chance of dropping so you basically had to do it multiple times if you actually wanted any of those.
