    hosts keeping people hostage...

So giving every random Joe access to the console was the lesser of two evils I guess.

That's the part that I don't understand, because there's already the "Abort Mission" option for singular players wanting to leave.
In the instance I described, did the player who pushed us all into dock actually get more of his rewards from the second mission, than if he simply aborted alone?

Because if so, this isn't just problematic design, it's malevolent. Players who want out would literally get more by choosing to screw other people over.
If this is the lesser of two evils, then something is clearly wrong.

  2. I don't post here often, so apologies if this is a common thread, but this boggles my mind. TL;DR in bold.

Just hosted and played a Public mission on Veil Proxima - Flexa. We were on our second run, with some people joining and some leaving. We killed all necessary enemies, finished 1/2 of objectives, and I went down to the Galleon to help kill the Captain and finish the mission.

Someone decided they had enough and sent us all to the dock while two of us were fighting it. Nobody responded in chat when asked, no warning, just a sudden "I don't want the rewards so you can't have them either."

Why is this still a thing? I can't imagine this happening in any other game mode for more than a week without people rioting about how Public is completely unplayable.

There's a bigger discussion to be had about Vote systems in Railjack, and the way that "Abandon Mission" doesn't really explain how "You already finished the last mission, you can leave this second one safely alone without going back to the dock", but this is as simple as disabling the option for random people to hijack an entire squad and deny them all their progress.

Is there a design reason for this I'm unaware of, or is it unintended and just hasn't been a high priority fix?

  3. I hope that when you use this "UI is a conversation" metaphor, you also start considering which conversations are actually worth having over and over.

Would you buy a watch that you have to talk to every time you want to see the time?
Would you want a locked fridge that you have to politely request to list every single item in it to find out what you want to eat?
Or a remote with identical buttons with no text, icons or numbers, which only appear after you press them?

Many UI elements are used thousands of times, over several years, for seconds of interaction at a time. Each time a hover element / mode-swapping button is added, you double or triple that interaction. Things that were available at a glance suddenly require taking attention away from the rest of the game, fulfilling multiple steps for the same result.

The reason veterans are often upset with recent UI changes isn't just because of a lack of information or streamlined approach, it's because recent UI is designed primarily for the first time a player uses it, instead of the next 49,999 times.

  4. No idea if this helps but might as well share. Happened to my squad during the Jupiter Defense "Design Council Challenge" from a few days ago. A squad with a Frost (me), a Naramon Loki (lstalri, the Host and the victim) and 2 others.

During the last wave, around the time that The Seargent was supposed to show up, a Sapping Osprey sort of got desynced for us and it seems like we each fought it separately. 3 of us killed it, but it was invulnerable for the Host, and we spent several minutes trying to solve it somehow.

While invisible on my screen, The osprey kept firing sapping mines that appeared normally on everyone's screen at the same time, and all squad members could target them. It also kept moving around while the host chased it, and attempted destroying our core.

On my screen, my Sentinel kept trying to shoot a specific point near the core - presumably where I either killed the Osprey in my client, or where it originally desynced. The bullets went straight through and my Sentinel could not target the Host's version of the invulnerable osprey.

Eventually the Host abandoned the mission, we migrated to me as a new host and redid the final wave - successfully killing The Seargent at the end and getting our rewards (Except for lstalri, rip)

  5. About Question #1:

Ideally I'd love for Updates to be split apart like this one, but only if it was done in a way that made each part feel more refined on its own.

In this case, it seemed as if every part so far came fairly unprepared into the game. If that's going to be the case indefinitely, it's going to make every single content launch an uncomfortable experience for new and old players alike, and 2 weeks after the patch has been completely redesigned / altered, another unnecessary readjustment period. The excitement of new content will be easily drained away.

I understand DE's desire to test anything they can and get feedback as fast as possible, and the game's 'Open Beta' status certainly allows it, but in the long run this tactic will most likely backfire with players feeling less invested and knowing how unreliable new patches are. There are very few worse things for an online game than having the fanbase for it groan with frustration at the sight of updates.

If Update launches continue to be done in the same way as the last few years, with occasional half-cooked mechanics and broad ideas that aren't fully implemented, then I fully support the "Bad, I'd rather get it all at once" category.

If it has even the slightest chance of making the new, bigger patches feel more cohesive, then that's worth it. On top of that it would let players test out all of the kinks and issues immediately, rather than prolonging the painful process over weeks and months with multiple big updates shaking things up over and over.

  6. Being more aware of the fact that you're holding the ball is definitely necessary, and perhaps a longer cool-down on the "E" Charge mechanic could help some of the chaos.

In addition, it might help if holding the ball would disable your RMB-vortex mechanic (for the duration of you holding + 1-2 seconds), as it seems like I've managed to throw it multiple times only to have it end up back in my hands (without me realizing it due to chaos and lack of proper indicator).

Additionally, a system that might help out with some of the chaos could be some form of temporary drop-immunity (picking up the ball and instantly having it drop, then switch hands 10 times in 3 seconds, doesn't help the flow of the game). Perhaps just for half a second when you pick it up, or even have the Charge mechanic give you a temporary shield from the Enemies' checks.

Another thing that could really help with teamwork is making allies waiting for a pass much more visible to you. Currently it can be quite indistinguishable, especially in the chaos. Perhaps when an ally is using RMB, a larger, more prominent aura could be visible to you? Even an indicator to the side of the screen if they're out of sight, just to let you know someone is getting ready to accept a pass. Something that small could completely change team dynamics, even in public games, if implemented well.

Lastly, if this game is to make it anywhere beyond a fun mini-game that is immediately forgotten, a form of advanced matchmaking would be necessary, preferably based on player performance rather than just Conclave Rank / Games Won.

  7. Steve recently announced that the mysterious Executor Ballas will play a major role in a Cinematic quest this year, anything you can say about that at this point?

And if not, while we're on the topic of learning more about the Orokin - how about The highest ranking Orokin survivor, Sectarus Bilsa? Can we expect to see more of her / the impact she made by joining the Grineer in the game in ways other than Synthesis text?

  8. Warframe has certainly come a long way and I'm sure you still have plenty more ideas to add and improve throughout the year, but this question is one that we should never fully ignore or forget...

Any plans / timetable for when the game will finish its "Beta" phase?

2015 may have been the "year of quality" but if the game gets stuck in a cycle of new additions, new issues to handle, more thin polishing, and then new additions again, we might never see a truly completed product.

We know that you plan to support the game as you have long past its full release, but it'd be nice to know that such a release - and with it a promise for stability and cohesiveness - is still on the table.

  9. DESCRIPTION: Downsizing my clan (BROFRAME Violence) from Moon tier to Mountain tier caused all research rooms in our Dojo to become unresponsive.

When you use the panel to open up the research UI, your mouse appears for a moment, so does the exit button on the UI, but nothing else. After a few seconds, it disappears.

CAN YOU REPRODUCE THE BUG? - Uncertain...

    REPRODUCTION STEPS:

Assuming this bug isn't a general problem with the downsize system, it could be a product of BROFRAME's specific clan criteria that might not apply to others. We were grandfathered into the 1000 members clan status when the system was introduced, as our clan was split apart from our original 3k-10k player size.

Due to this fact, we had no Barracks to begin with and no prior use for them, so I had to build them from scratch to use the downsize button.

I built all 4 barracks, only to find out that I simply needed the first 3. I deleted the fourth (Moon), used the downsize, and then the bug occurred.

Waited a few days to see if it'll stabilize but it hasn't. A pretty large inconvenience to most of our players who are trying to fund all the new items :\

    Hope you can help.

  10. I have Suda and Hexis reputation aplenty, and I'm interested in trading the weapons / mods in those factions for:

    Sancti Castanas

    Secura Penta

    Secura Dual Cestra

4x mods for a secondary, 5x mods for a primary,

    or 1:1 weapon trade!

Let me know if you have these Red Veil / New Loka weapons!

  11. Frost, Latron, Reaper will be unvaulted

And? Doesn't really change the fact that they have been unavailable for a very long time, and many players still need them now for their collection.

I assume that most vaulted primes will return with some exclusivity of sorts at some point, I just haven't heard DE give a lot of details as for when and where.

Regardless, not planning to make people pay like 500plat for them like some others do anyway. I'm simply not sure how much they would go for when it comes to Ducats some I'm checking for offers first. Most of my other prices are based around Baro's values or around the item's rarity, but there is no concrete scale for vaulted ones.

  12. I'm trading a whole bunch of stuff for DUCATS,

  13. When will polarities be readjusted / distributed to make more sense and become less of a hassle?

Some polarities are simply unused, some are overabundant, and some are forced in just to make people use more Formas unnecessarily.

Many pistols have D Polarities on them with hardly any good mods to fit in, while most builds end up being 7 V Polarities and one -.

Carrier Prime has an added V Polarity that can hardly work with anything but Fired Up,

Many Warframes carry Polarities that don't even match any mod that their abilities synchronize with - which simply makes players spend more money and time on Forma (Which is also designed in a very consuming and grindful way), or limit their builds to something inefficient.

Polarities haven't changed or evolved much since U8 and every addition to the game only condenses the mod pool further into the edge that it is stuck in. Every Damage buff goes in V for weapons, most Dual-stat Mods are in V as well, Melee weapons with D end up using Frost damage or nothing else..

It's just a broken system that is being left unchecked.
