  1. Steam has now completely fixed itself.  The only thing I did differently (since trying and failing on Steam last night) was un-check the "Run as Administrator" option.  I was trying everything I could thing of a while back and forgot to undo that portion (which seems to have caused the Steam launcher option to think there wasn't an executable   Other than that, I did nothing and the standard Warframe.exe from this site and the Steam launch option both are working like they did two weeks ago.

  2. Strangely, I did nothing and the game launched as intended.  I ran the infinite loop (and update failed) several times via the Steam launcher, verified integrity and downloaded another 1.4 GB (already done this several times) but it still failed.  Then it started telling me the .exe couldn't be found.  I jumped on the non-Steam Warframe launcher, it updated - checked for content for about 15 minutes and then allowed me to click "Play".

I ran the game, closed it and tried again this morning and I was able to access the game and play an entire match.  I'm back to how it was a couple weeks ago.  I did nothing, just like when the problem started surfacing.

  3. Well, I'm sad to say I'm done trying to get it to work.  I didn't do anything differently on my side - one day the updater was just permanently jacked.  I've uninstalled, re-installed, modified settings and changed things in IE (never even USE it, I'm a Chrome man :)) so many times I've lost track.  It's pretty frustrating (and sad).  Hopefully it'll be fixed and I can play the game in the future, but with the absence of any clear way to actually get the game working I don't know what else to do but stop trying (P.S. to any dev's reading - the bug report link from Glen doesn't work, it just tells me I'm not authorized to view the page).

Good luck to everyone on the thread that still can't play - hopefully they'll fix it.  I'll check back later.

  4. You're not alone!  There are others having problems launching the game/installing the game/updating the game, etc. and I'm sure DE and their staff are aware.  I'm having problems, too.  Try checking our support.warframe.com and continue browsing the forums to see if any other posted solutions can help you out.

  5. Arkl1te, I can't say I've experienced that exact issue, but I've got a different (yet equally frustrating) problem that is also preventing me from playing the game.  You could check out support.warframe.com to get more assistance (and please do!  You need to play this game!!).

Here is a copy+paste from DE_Corey ripped straight from their support page (for what to do if you can't find an answer and need to open a ticket):

When submitting a ticket, there are a couple things that can be included that will help our developers in identifying and fixing an issue. Also this may save some time in waiting for messages back and forth between you and the support staff.

DxDiag.txt file: To find this, you will need to run DxDiag.exe and click on the Save All Information button on the bottom of the window. Then save the file to a directory of your choosing and attach that file to your ticket.

To run DxDiag.exe in Windows Vista/7, simply open the Start Menu and type DxDiag and click on the icon. To run it in WinXP, open the start menu and click on the Run... icon. Then just type in DxDiag to the text box and click OK.

EE.log file: This file can be found in C:\Users\YourWindowsAccountName\AppData\Local\Warframe or simply %LOCALAPPDATA%\Warframe.

Note: This is in a hidden folder. To enable viewing hidden folders, open an explorer window and press Alt. Then, click Tools -> Folder Options.
Then click on the View tab and under the advanced settings box, click on Show hidden files, folders and drives.
Once set, click on Apply to folders button and click Ok at the bottom of the window. This should allow you to see your App Data folder in your Windows users folder

Launcher.log file: If experiencing an issue regarding the launcher updating your game client, this file can be found in the same location as the EE.log file.

Screenshots: If you see a crazy visual issue, a screenshot can really help us understand what you're seeing. You can capture a screenshot by pressing F6 in game. The screenshots will then appear in the Captures folder in your Warframe installation directory
Default directory is:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Warframe\Downloaded\Public\Captures'

  6. I've been dealing with a similar issue for the past week, except I NEVER get to the point where "play" is displayed.  It just constantly searches for new game content (most recently downloading 6 MB) before endlessly failing and re-trying.

    - I've uninstalled the original "non-steam" version.

    - I've deleted the game through Steam and downloaded it again

    - I've tried dumping the download cache (and re-downloading over a GB of data through the launcher)

    - I've tried verifying the game through steam (and downloading ~1.2 GB of data through Steam)

    - I've restarted my PC multiple times and Steam multiple times

I'm currently in the process of completely re-downloading the game (a second time) through Steam, though I'm not convinced anything will happen because Steam told me it was "Converting existing game installation" when there wasn't any Warframe stuff left on the PC at all.  Pretty tired of trying to get into the game, especially considering everything was working great until ... I don't know when.

Edit: I should add that I found out my terrible (but the only thing available) 1.5 MB down AT&T DSL actually HAS a cap!  I'm not saying this process exceeded my 150 GB available, but I just busted through 3 additional 50 GB "packages" for $10 a pop.  Nice.  Every time I start to troubleshoot more (and download several more gigabytes) I die a little knowing I'm sure to start yet another $10 per 50GB package.  Thanks, AT&T.

  7. So ... seriously, there isn't a way to turn off the wall of text that is the chat window? I'm kind of dumbfounded. Maybe I'm the only person that doesn't want to see it, but I can't believe there isn't a single forum post about it.

It drives me ... completely ... nuts.

I can barely get through a mission without my eyes instinctively darting to the chat window. It doesn't seem to matter where I put it, either. I just want the option to make it go away. Please, DE. Please make it go away.
