Unending black screen and game minimizing

I have had an issue of my game, after an update or hotfix, would occasionally just black screen after launching or if it makes it to the login screen, minimizing. I have had this issue for a year or so, but has always sorted itself out, but has become a recurrent problem since 23.8. I have been checking around and noticed a post on the Wikia, dating back to October 2014, stating it started at about update 14. If this has been an known issue by players for so long, then why hasn't this been addressed yet. Why is the only fix having to play on windowed mode, and not anyway that I can actually enjoy the game. Link below is to the Wikia discussion aforementioned.
