Solved: Gear wheel cannot un/equip after adding a dragon key

Hello everyone,

 

so I just equipped two dragon keys for the first time. When I added the second one I wanted to go and change it however I had no option to equip the "empty" slot. I thought this was just for the dragon keys and once I do the missions should be fine. It turns out I cannot remove any item now. I am fairly low level so having so much health and damage reduction will make the game unplayable. Any solutions?

This Reddit topic advises this is bug. It has not been addressed for two years.  Please move topic to bug reporting sub-forum (PC).

Edit 2: An obvious solution that did not occur to me - pressing enter or double clicking equips the empty slot.This should be fixed eventually for all daft people like me.
