Newish Player - What To Supercharge?

Hi all,

 

I recently got a catalyst from one of the alerts and would like to know fellow Tenno's opinion on what to supercharge?

 

Running a level 30 melee Loki at the moment with a Rhino on the way, I have only unlocked Mercury, Venus, Earth Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Europa and would like to know which weapon would help me through the rest of the planets?

 

I currently have

Primary:

-Braton

-Strun

-(Strun Wraith)

 

Secondary:

-Kunai

 

Melee:

-Dual Ether

 

I'm also open to suggestions on getting new weapons (Orthos?) and supercharging them if you think it would help me more.

Supercharging completely depends on what you like and what you use most. in terms of actual effectiveness, the kunai would be the best use of it.

The Strun Wraith came with a Catalyst so that one is out of the list. What you supercharge will depend on how you play and what weapon you like most.

Why supercharge something that is already supercharged?

You cant supercharge the strun wraith cause it already has a catalyst installed..

 

Personally id hold onto it until you find that perfect weapon you just love using. It could be anything really.

Even if you supercharge something and regret it later

there will always be more catalysts

As for OP.  Unless you buy them with platinum, catalysts and reactors are really hard to come by, so I would save that catalyst for later as you already have a potato'd weapon (Strun wraith).

Don't potato the Strun. Strun wraith is already potatoed, and it's a much superior weapon. Braton, when potatoed, can take you midgame fairly easily as long as you don't try to do high wave defense without a capable team. I would say the Kunai.

 

If you play more melee (with an Ash or Loki or Rhino), then potato your melee to do crazy damage. Heavy weapons do great charge attacks, so Orthos, Gram, Scindo are great melee weapons to get.

 

Acrid and Dual Vipers are fun secondaries for down the road. You'll figure out more and more that match your playstyle as you continue to play. Read up on the wikis as they're a great source. Also, there are several great youtubers like Mogamu that upload great reviews of weapons with recommended builds. They almost always potato weapons but that's not something you have to do if you're only after the mastery points for that weapon.

Yes. acquire more weapons. when you find one that you really like, use it then.

Yeah I do. I've read a lot of good things about the Orthos and Gram. Haven't read much about the Scindo. Thinking about getting the Orthos next...

 Yes, acquire many more weapons, rank them up and bring your mastery rank up to, at least, 7. Join a clan, if you haven't already, and make some clan weapons. If you haven't used your potato yet, or have another by then, you will want to use in on one of the clan weapons.

 

Also, for melee. Gram is a really good weapon. I have scindo, Orthos and Gram and, for me, none beat the Gram.

And wait for the major patches to settle. They're going to redo the damage types to some degree soon.

I'd recommend that you sit tight and blast through people with your wraith for now. It's a great, pre-supercharged gun and will be all you need for a while yet. Update 10 is coming soon so hold on till then and see what new stuff comes our way.

All of your gear is worth potatoing. Strun Wraith is a direct upgrade of Strun. So once you get Strun to lv30 you can just sell it.

P.S. Don't listen to Gram fanboi's, Orthos>Gram.

Kunai is the best choice. but i would wait for update 10. also to the mellee fans i have orthos and gram personally i find orthos to be more viable as a main weapon for newish players. orthos requires less mods overall to be an effective killing machine, gram requires more, and in turn gives you some pretty mean damage, but that is if you are fine with sacrificing mobility.i love how shiny the red neon glow on my gram is though.
