The Thirst To Nerf. Why?

I've never advocated nerfing a weapon I did not rank to 30 at least twice and potato.

How could I know it was worthy of a nerf without really experiencing it myself?

Most of the weapons I want nerfed are ones I like, and if I did not like them they probably wouldn't need a nerf.

Nerfs make me happier than buffs.

I do not like bigger numbers just for the sake of bigger numbers. I do not like inflationary creep.

Less is more.

Occam's Razor.

I can solo Pluto with almost any frame and almost any combination of weapons, so can most people who have more than 100 hours under their belts (unless they are gamepad users).

Soma is generally better than Braton with the only difference in mods being Vital Sense and Point Strike, neither of which are that hard to get. Point Strike is the really important one, and that is a wave 5 or 10 reward on the very first defense mission in the game.

Having the ability to mod weapons to their utmost does nothing to change the base weapon. Fully modded, a handful of weapons are very good, but relative to these, most others are still useless crap.

So, taking your last sentience into consideration, if I mod my Gorgon and Sicarus to the full, why can't they compete? Why don't they even have the vaguest niche? Because some weapons are way the hell more powerful than they should be and they overshadow everything else.

This would be an improvement over being balanced around everything being pretty much the opposite of what's logical and believable.

Everything trivializes the challenge of the game, even after the massive and unnecessary buff they gave to the ranks in all the later planets. The game is not particularly hard, even with most "mastery only" weapons. I can kill an entire crowd of mid to late game enemies with puncture mods on a Gorgon.

The Soma can easily annihilate anything outside of high wave Endless Defense or T3 Defense, and the game should not be balanced around content that only the top 5% can even see (especially when it's boring and repetitive content).

It should be. The other factors you mention are meaningless without taking damage into consideration.

Secondaries in general are overpowered, and their mods inexplicably go out of the way to exaggerate this.

Its a little late for all the supernerfs you want anyways. no way DE can do them without scorning 90% of the playerbase, which they wont do. its more likely they will find a way to put them in Tiers to make it clearer what weapons to throw all you got into and what weapons are to hold you over till later. The Mastery rank idea is the best way ive heard so fa to combat Power Creep in this game.

but even so, until they either stop making new S#&$ and work on their old stuff or come up with a way to sustain us other than the addictive weapon porn they got going for them right now. The game is always gonna fall short. This game has become a Loot game and I dont know what they'd have to do to fix it. I can only hope they will find a way.

What tenno at DE should do is roll out the damage/armor rework (when it's done of course). And then just sit down. Grab some bear. Define tiers. Set baselines for those tiers. Then assign all currently existing weapons to those tiers. Balance them based on those set baselines. Just dedicate few weeks to the balancing. And most importantly they should release all that balancing all at once. Not 1 weapon by 1 weapon but all at once.

^^^OMG THIS!!!

I know. I didn't say they were realistic, just that I'd like them.

I fully expect the game to continue to move in a direction I do not find appealing, at least with regards to grind, bloat, and power inflation. I'll have fun with it as long as I can.

Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic. Maybe Armor 2.0 and subsequent rebalancing/tiering will fix most of my largest concerns. We shall see.

I'm okay with nerfs. Even if they hit my guns. I spend most of my time on here collecting weapons, and I know damn well that many of them can't cut it on higher levels, but that's okay with me, I don't mind dropping down to level 40 or 20 or w/e to see my gun shine again. But then, I've got preople that bring along a Soma/Acrid/Reaper Prime, and it's a little annoying to see that, even when I go out of my way to use my weapon in a place it's actually effective, people are still bringing their end-game gear and steam-rolling the map. I don't like killing everything easily. It's boring, which is why I save my super weapons for the real challenges, or at least try not to one-man-army the match with them.

People that bring maxed out weapons to level 40 content are just shy of being griefers in public mission. If I do any thing under level 40 I use weapons I am leveling up or weapons that are appropriate for the NPC.

DE doesn't have a good match making system at all and they should use the conclave rating as a way to stop people from ruining the game for people that do not want uber players running the mission.
