Going over capacity limit

I had a rank 0 riven mod installed in a rank 0 melee weapon, it had 0 remaining capacity and was on a formad slot. I went on to upgrade the riven and the game let me to do so without uninstalling the mod with the usual window pop-up. I checked on the weapon and it had -3 mod capacity. I was then able to start a mission with this weapon. After uninstalling the mod it's working normally. DE may want to fix that as it may be used as an exploit.
