Vilemyre
I'm now curious. Considering I used to play the hell out of U2k4.
tahrox
I modded the crap out of 2k4 with custom player models/maps/weapons and mutators back in the day, good stuff.
Vilemyre
I used to still host some Invasion servers. They had activity. It was fun to play.
MSD3000
I'm not sure what they did for everything prior, but I know they DIDN'T have anything to do with UT3. Which is why UT3 was a failure. Cliffy B got a hold of it and made it some horrible bastard child of Gears of War, with a laughably bad "story" mode, and fewer customization options than any UT game prior. And don't forget his decision to nix Invasion mode, in order to give it to Gears 2. Nothing like sabotaging one series to prop up your own, eh Cliffy? Really never understood Cliffy's desire to ad horrible "super machismo" stories to everything. Epic should have known he didn't know how to handle the UT franchise after the train-wreck that was Unreal Championship 2 on the Xbox. If you wanted to add a solid and fascinating "solo campaign" to the Unreal Tournament franchise, they should have focused in the the TOURNAMENT aspect. Make it a full on league simulator, like a sports game. Build your team, gain rep, trade members, level/mold them through use and proper management. Develop rivalries with other teams. Achieve and defend your title. Play dirty between matches. A bazzilion ways they could have expounded upon the idea of the tournament without some crappy story about evil aliens and testosteroids fueled vengeance. Be glad Cliffy B decided he was too cool to make games and retired. He'll never hurt another great franchise again....
Deathjamm
To this day, I miss UT and UT2k4. According to steam, I have played UT3 for all of 2 hours...
