Derelict Revised Proposal

This is really just a thought but it's a way to make Derelicts viable again and start bringing in some of these disparate islands of systems that exist today. One of my most fondest memories of Warframe is getting a team together to do a Vault Run. It was the most difficult at the time things in the game. Being the one to find the vault and having the right key in hand felt amazing. Now the Derelicts, how they are setup now, you can just run a solo capture put on all 4 vault keys and get it done in 2 minutes. A forgotten relic, but I believe could be with a few changes just something amazing again.

Main Proposal:

My proposal is to make the Delicts more of a cohesive dungeon experience. Bring all 8 Derelict nodes together into one node. Just name it a Orokin Derelict Mission. Consolidate all keys into 1 and add a queueing system so that you can actually have match making. Each current mission type would be set randomly as a string of 5 "Levels" with Assassination always as the end Level. You must complete the objective of each Level before the "door" to the next level is opened.

For example you would start a Derelict Mission and for that mission you would get the following string of Levels: Survival as the Level 1 objective, Capture as the Level 2 objective, Sabotage as the Level 3 objective, Mobile Defense as the Level 4 objective, and Assassinate at Level 5. For the next run you could possibly get the following string: Capture as the Level 1 objective, Defense as the Level 2 objective, Exterminate as the Level 3 objective, Survival as the Level 4 objective, and Assassinate at Level 5. The objective types do not repeat. One of the 5 Levels of the Derelict ship will have an Orokin Vault. The Dungeon crawl would be meant to be a 40 - 45 minute experience.

Twists and Turns:

Mod Slots Temporarily Disabled:

When you first arrive to a Derelict ship you are hit with an Infested Mind-Flayers mod slot scramble. The infested have inactivated your Warframe mod slots except for Auras and Exilus slots for a total of 8 blocked slots. On each of the first 4 Levels 2 Mind-Flayers would be hidden that control of one of the 8 slots. Killing (Parazon Kill) them would unlock a blocked slot. So you start weak, but as you continue thru the Derelict you get stronger. Mind-Flayers influence the Warframe's Infested Flesh to effect the Warframe mod slots. Your Weapon Slots are unaffected.

Vault Keys:

Vault Keys should stay exactly the same. It's up to the players to see if they want to add that to the difficulty madness or not.

Arcane Revivals Only:

Your standard 4 revivals don't work on the Derelict ship(Infested influence is too strong), but Arcane Revivals do. Having a few high MR team mates with 2x Rank 3 Arcanes would be a god send.

The Randoms:

Void Fissures:

At a random interval the Derelict ship will get hit by a Void Storm and Void Fissures will be active for that time period (total of 4 times per mission) load up your 4 relics (1x Lith, 1x Meso, 1x Neo, 1x Axi) before the start of the mission (optional).

Thrall Invasion:

While it would be cool if your Lich showed up I think it would be kinda overkill. I would really like to leave the Lich system to extend over to Railjack as shown before by DE. I really liked that. But what I would propose is that your Lich sends a squad of Lich Thralls at random if a player has an active Kuva Lich. Kuva and murmurs as a reword for killing them. The higher rank Lich stronger the thralls and the greater the Kuva reward.

4th Level Mini-Boss:

At the end of Level 4 at random one of the current field bosses will spawn and must be vanquished before you can move on to the Assassinate level. I would include all current Field Bosses. That's Shadow Stalker, Zenuka Hunter, Leekter from the G3, Shik Tal from the G3, Vem Tabook from the G3, Ven'kra Tel, Sprag, World of Saturn Six, Angst, Malace, Mania, Torment, Violence, and Corrupted Vor. Leave Juggernaut as an optional mini-boss the way it is now. Up to the team to take it on or not. I would also upgrade the field bosses to make them susceptible to status like Kuva Lich are now and also make them a bit more tanky where needed. I wouldn't include any of the planet bosses, but I would make it so that defeating one of the planet bosses increases the likely hood of a specific field boss to spawn(Like when Stalker sends you an email now).

Rewards:

Rewards are super tricky but for me along with all the mods I would say you add an arcane as a reward at the end along with items to use to convert for focus points along with Lenses. Maybe revamp the Lens system to make it more upgrade based instead of replace based.  Make it 20 Ranks of Focus Lens Rank with the dungeon crawl reward dropping items that increase your Len's Rank. Also maybe that item that makes your Warframe act on It's own like Umbra for 24 hours when you switch to operator mode. That sounded cool without the 24 hour thing. Maybe having a Rank 20 Lens does that automatically for your Warframe as long as that Rank 20 Lens is installed on your Warframe.  Would be something to work towards for all of your favorite Warframes.

Would be cool to bring all these mechanics together and make Derelict ships fun again. I have some fond memories of my old derelict runs.  MAKE DERELICTS GREAT AGAIN!! 🙃

Thanks for reading!

That's just gatekeeping and will result in fewer players being able to enjoy the Derelict.

Also, imagine being the poor #*!%er who has to carry the hobbled dragon key through 45 minutes of mission without being able to get rid of it at some point.

I forgot about that, that was actually kind of fun.

I remember when starting to do those that I didn't really know what to expect, so I asked some clan members that were on and we did a few. After a while I'd talk to alliance members to get a team going and I'd meet new people that way.

It was the kind of thing where even though the level of coordination was very light, it felt like (to me anyway) kind of like a clan activity. It was pretty nice to be encouraged to actually TALK to people in an online-multiplier game.

Pretty much the only thing in the game that made clans feel like something other than a BP-databank (I wasn't around for raids; wish I was).
