Bonewidow to me, really takes the reference of the Shield Maidens on not just her 2nd ability, but also the obvious design of sword and shield. Her appearance however, looks like they took the ancient torture device known as the Iron Maiden, and combined it with elements of Warhammer 40k. It's interesting and you could be right.
