The new tabbed chat system has a performance problem. If the game has been running for a while with active tabs (general, council, trade, recruiting, etc), changing tabs or opening the chat window causes it to unresponsive for a while. The unresponsive period gets longer the longer the client is open. Restarting the client will temporarily fix this problem.

I'm guessing that the entire chat log is being redownloaded, or perhaps is being stores on the harddrive. In either case a possible fix might be trim old messages. Only load the last 25 or 30 posts, rather than everything since you logged in.

Also on the topic of the chat ui, it really needs timestamps. Clan chat and personal messages can hang around for a long time before they get noticed. It would be handy if they were labeled with the time they arrived. It would be added to the right click or a hover if it would clutter up the ui too much.
