A question from a newbie

Most likely your game is set to a low populated region/language. If you change to US/Europe and English game, the trade chat is far more lively.

Either way, you should use warframe.market because the in game trade chat is pure chaos and lots of people are trying to take advantage of each other.

Market is generally the best place to buy, but the worst place to sell if you want to net the best price for yourself. The site is plagued with false listings that are made to fool people into lowering their prices to beat it. I'd recommend only using the site to sell if you want faster and passive sales, or only using it as an additive but primarily selling in the chat manually.

So what you are saying is you use warframe market to get the lowest price possible for a buy using the listed for sale section, to then say the listed for sale section is littered with fake even lower listings? sounds like a paradox to me and just mental gymnastics to morally justify your opportunism and denying your trade chat victims the chance at a fair price from warframe.market, because you don't provide them with the same knowledge as you do.

It is These people you need to watch out for, as well as the people in trade chat trying to obtain items under the market price to then quickly sell them on warframe.market. These are the real scum.

I might've worded it poorly.

Listing sites are the best place to buy, because many people are competing with dud listings under the belief that they are selling at market value. To be absolutely clear on what a dud listing is it's the lowest price on the list, the user is online, and they never respond to inquiries about their listing. The listing is purely for show, and exists so that others compete with it, so the false lister can then buy those newer and cheaper listings so that they can be flipped for profit. False listings never used to be as much of a problem as they are now. In the last few years they've exploded.

New sellers tend to believe that the lowest price is the market rate and completely ignore the median rate which lends to many falling for competing with dud listings. Ignoring the median rate also means that new sellers are earning less than they could have made. With the sheer volume of people who fall into the dud listing trap it creates situations where full sets are cheaper than the individual components, or entire warframes selling for 20 platinum or less. Newer sellers also fail to recognize that they can push above the median rate and still get offers as well as not being aware of those who value convenience over best value who tend to use the in-game chat over listing sites. Those individuals tend to be long time veterans who have accumulated more platinum than they will realistically need.

Where you should sell will depend on what you value as a seller. If you want fast and passive sales but low profit then you should use listing sites. If you want high profit and don't mind grinding trade channels for potentially extended periods of time then you should be in Maroo's Bazaar and Trade chat at the same time.

The responsibility to find the best price available lies solely with the buyer. If someone is willing to pay what a seller is asking then it is not the seller who is in the wrong. It is a free market after.

yep, you use the listings of people who fell for what you call the dud trap, still morally questionable,

nope, just the people who undercut market prices in trade chat by trapping newbs, or people who use selling listings and then say you should not sell there because the price is too low, so buy the item at the price you would sell it for yourself, that is called fair trading.

That's a bit silly. Going by that logic everyone who uses listing sites would be some kind of villain.
