Yastin
Anyways, I had a thought, seeing as how a few people have commented upon scabbards... Why not make an "iata-style" katana as an option? It doesn't have to be used from the waist, either. See, it would work much like the current glaive and Kestrel, the sword sheathed in a scabbard suspended at an angle towards the elbow on the frame's left fore-arm. When used, it would "drop" into their left hand. It could do a combination of Impact and slash damage in a normal combo (hitting people with the scabbard for blunt force), and the charge attack would be that fabled 'quick-draw' slash, pure slashing damage in a wide area. Just an idea, of course, but I like it. Edited December 13, 2013 by Yastin

Yastin
There could even be a themed mod for it, making the first slash of a combo do extra damage. Maybe a nightmare mod that does that and a slight bump to charge attacks. It would add a little strategy to melee weapon use, if nothing else making it a unique option, as far as the long-swords go. In any case, it would fit the "bad-&#! space-ninja" theme to a T.

Yastin
Fair point with the samurai thing, but it'd still be a kick-&#! weapon, and fit in very well with more "noble" frames.
Lost_Cartographer
This would actually introduce something unique to melee weapons that guns can't match. That being changing the primary damage type on the fly. Of course, if possible DE could go the extra mile and immediately following a charged strike, quick strikes continue to use the sword until the user stops, then the Tenno sheathes their sword again. Well they are making it so you can hold melee weapons at all times now

Yastin
Ah, thanks. Didn't know about this section... Anyways, One can hope for something like this. It's at least something new for the "longsword" type... Who knows, if they get creative, maybe this can just be one of several selectable "stances" for longsword type weapons... The 2 stances they have will be based off the warframe movement animation types.
