winters.prime
hello im reporting a small problem i am having with physx on my laptop, as stated in the title i have a Geforce GTX 680M brand new in my alienware running win 8 but for whatever reason on the warframe setting the physx option is grayed out and the same is happening for other games like planetside 2. I have reinstalled my drivers 4-5 times and they where clean installs and i did set Geforce GTX 680M in the physx tab in nvidia control panel. If anyone could shed some light on this problem that would be amazing. Sorry if a post about this problem was already created.
RossRam
Maybe that graphic card is just to awesome for these games ?
Ancair
Try reinstalling PhysX from the retail page for the most updated version. Uninstall current PhysX also Nvidia drivers to be sure, run CC cleaner, install both updated version if you're able to. Good luck :)
EagleRise
maybe laptop nvidia cards dont support it? I have no other idea.

Exactly...I wouldn't wonder twice about physX ,the impact on graphics its worthless. Just few things moving different than other wont make much difference,on my point of view atleast. Strac_CRO
looks like it supports Physics http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gtx-680m Could it be game's engine is not detecting nVidia GPU but only Intel-crap until DX11 is activated ingame and nVidia's Optimus "kicks in"
winters.prime
i was thinking the same thing but i have no idea how to "tell" it to detect my gpu...

Strac_CRO
ask in WARFRAME tehnical support (or nVidia tech. forum) or ask DE_Glen in PM Edited March 18, 2013 by Strac_CRO
lazyholic
i have gtx680m and having the same issue, it is grayed out, and im using 314.21 driver. Im pretty sure 680m graphic card is enabled, since it won't be possible for a hd4000 to have a solid 60fps on 1080p max setting
winters.prime
exacly it seems as though warframe dosent support the GTX 680m i hope this is a problem in the game not on the gfx cards :(

lazyholic
thx Thingofmyth, it works but now for 680m, its a choice between dx11 or physx?
winters.prime
so whats better dx11 or physx? Edited March 20, 2013 by xlegion101
dubignou81
How much video memory do you have ? See, the game will take 512 meg for all the texture and so on and the PhysX effects are kinda greedy in term of video memory consumption. So the game will check that you have more than 768 meg available.
Noxxys
I have the same problem, I have a laptop with a GTX 680M. If I really must choose between DX11 and PhysX, DX11 will easily win. By the way, the GTX 680M has 4 GB of dedicated RAM. EDIT: after see this trailer, I'm not sure anymore which one is more eye-candy :p Edited March 20, 2013 by Noxxys
