Heavy Caliber

Heavy Caliber was released as +damage +recoil. It was changed so that it actually affects weapons with 0 recoil.

But another mod was added in the same patch. Stabilizer reduces recoil. Because they were added at the same time. My belief is that they were meant to balance out the corrupted mod if one desired.

But changing Heavy Caliber without also changing Stabilizer means that they cannot balance the corruption affect anymore.

My opinion:

Stabilizer should be changed to match heavy calibers downside, +accuracy instead of -recoil. Or heck, keep stabilizer as is and just add a new mod for +accuracy and nothing else.

Adding an increased accuracy mod would be good. However, Stabilizer would be a more appropriate name for a +accuracy mod, while something like Muzzle Brake would be more appropriate for a -recoil mod.

Also most people don't know the difference between accuracy and recoil ATM. Recoil is the amount your screen visibly jerks about (mostly upward) when your weapon fires; the Grakata has a ridiculous amount of recoil, though is otherwise relatively accurate. Accuracy is how much the bullets naturally spread from your barrel after firing; the Supra has a respectably poor accuracy, but otherwise has very little recoil.

IRL, light-weight weapons tend to have higher recoil, and heavy-weight weapons tend to have lower recoil. High-caliber weapons tend to have higher recoil, low-caliber weapons has less recoil.

As for accuracy IRL, most rifles are pretty damn accurate, and most of the bullet spread is a result of humans being unreliable bastards rather than the fault of the weapon. The only weapons that have significant spread are shotguns or other smoothbore weapons, and even then they have a far smaller spread than most people think.

Before HC was changed, people used stabilizer to cancel out the effects, however there was still more recoil than normal. However like you said, zero recoil weapons didnt have any negative effects. The devs did a good job balancing Heavy Caliber in 10.4

MushrooMars makes a good point btw

That's kind of my point. I believe stabilizer cancelling out the effects was _intentional_.
