Event Scoring Flub

Personal and Clan scoring is based on the current best, of the highest current escalation.

It should be based on the sum of the first mission, + the second mission, + (the third?).

Why? Because, you can do things like this.

Event Part 1: Get over 500 Points and be rewarded with an Event Badge + Boosters! (Consolation prize.)

Event Part 2: Get over 1500 Points and be rewarded with with our Mods, and a Quantum Badge! (2nd Place, Wowee!)

Event Part 3: Get over (3000? 3500? 1000 HP -> 2000 HP -> 4000? HP, /2 ->2k/2.5k +1.5k = blah blah) Points and be rewarded with a Gorgon Wraith + Super Crazy Mega Ultimate Badge, (or, a Quantum Badge, assuming that's supposed to designate a player's worth as a capable individual in this event.) (1st place, WOW!)

Now, the other benefit of making the scoring this way is the -spread-.

Player A gets 500, 1000, 2000 => 3500 points. That would be their final clan contribution, and their final personal reward score.

Player B gets 800, 1250, 2500 => 4550 points. Clan/Personal.

Player C gets 700, 1350, 2600 => 4650. Etc.

This keeps people's interest in each individual tier, to help their clan members, to run pubs, in an attempt to max out their score. (But, why do it this way, when in the current system, each tier is the new current goal, and we can help clan members through the lower tiers?) Because, 'replacing' a tier with a more powerful tier, just to get easy rewards, (Seriously, 500 points = Gungan's Wrath, and with Tier 2 alone that's a walk in the park,) is bad design. People want exclusive rewards, but there is no harm in making them actually -challenging-.

So, if we assume all players need to get a 500 score on Tier 1 easy, we can assume that they will get a lower score on Tier 2 medium. And, an even lower score on Tier 3 hard. What happens then? Well, they don't get the biggest reward, but they can still earn themselves a smaller reward, by boosting their score with the 3rd Tier. This mentality is only for more casual players who have no interest in maxing out their clan's score. This keeps a casual player's interest in tact, while giving them the opportunity to earn a more hardcore reward.

Player E

=> 500, consolation prize, he is happy. There are no bigger rewards, yet, and he gets the event done.

=> 750 (+500) = 1250, unhappy. He'll try to run it to improve his score, or he can drop down a level in an attempt to get a higher score there. He wants 250 more points, so maybe he tries to get a 750 on the first one, maybe he tries to get that 1000 score on the second one. Maybe he slowly improves his score over the other two. But, upon the release of Tier 3, he's happy again. Why? He gets the opportunity to earn 2nd reward, through the 3rd tier. Does he feel cheated that he can't earn 3rd reward? Slightly, but, he understands that because he worked to get Tier 2, Tier 3 needs to be worked for as well.

=>900-1000 (+750+500) = 2250, far away from the proposed 3000, but, that's where he becomes interested in finding a quality group to really strive for that biggest prize. Learns what strats work, checks the forums, posts, etc. It shouldn't be a given, but it shouldn't be impossible. If a person can earn 50% on Tier 1, he can probably earn 50% on Tier 2, and probably improve his score on Tier 3.

=>1100-1200 (+1000+750) = 2850. Much closer, but now he can really test himself on the other levels. Maybe he doesn't feel he can improve on Tier 1, but Tier 2 is more his skill range, and he knows he can scratch out another 100... 150? Maybe he picks up a group that really blows Tier 1 out of the water for those extra points.

Spread also helps determine which clans are the tip-top. By separating them into 3 (hypothetical/proposed) tiers, you enable each clan member to optimize their strategies across 3 different difficulties. The rewards are supposed to be 'easy,' the clan trophies need to be a chore. Not a grindy chore, necessarily, but this gives a bigger spread between each individual player of the clan, against the players in another clan. Instead of dragging the third/fourth wheels through and having them get their score, all three tiers must be performed to a standard comparable to the opposition's standard. (This also gives the #1 clan out there the opportunity to outshine the rest, as they can minimize their spreads per person and prove who is truly deserving of a gold trophy.)

This still works for two tiers, but a third tier would really help solidify it. Of course, most of these ideas are moot given the reward ranges are already announced. But, maybe, if some of the designer fellas will read this before planning out their next event, it'll help create a better event.
