In-Game Chat Window: Not Noticeable Enough?

So yeah, I'm noticing that the current incarnation of the in-game chat window isn't very noticable until I feel that I should be reading the chat. For the most part I forget that it's there and I don't notice any new squad chat updates.

This goes to the other end; I don't see any of my squadmates reply to what I'm saying, but are either immersed in the mission objective or murderating all the enemies; so I'm guessing they're not noticing the chat as well.

Anyone with the same problem?

Bringing this up because I had a stalker spawn on me during a PUG, despite my "Hey guys, stalker on me", they just ran ahead and I killed him myself :I
