Praxeti
Not sure if this is the right place to put this. Been looking into getting a gaming pc, but I really don't understand all the spec stuff and how to tell if it'll run the games you wanted to. So I found a reasonably priced one, but have no idea how/if it will run this game. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cyberpower-Infantry-Desktop-Processor-Windows/dp/tech-data/B00C72IMOU/ref=de_a_smtd If any of you have the time to help me understand this or if anyone has this PC and knows how well it runs warframe, please leave a reply :D Any help is appreciated
Ittia
http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/ Don't buy pre-made garbage, make your own. That way you know it's a good machine. Edited June 7, 2014 by Ittia
Vheraun
I am by no means an expert, and I don't know how AMD cards handle Warframe, but generally the specs seem fine.However... Windows 8. Ugh.

Praxeti
I would build a PC, but I would probably mess it up, heh. And I have windows 8 at the moment, it seems decent.

tactical_surgeon
Here - I use this site to help make choices when I'm picking parts http://pcpartpicker.com/It helps show you what's possibly not compatible , what prices are dropping / increasing - and other things that should make this easier on you.I recommend Intel CPU's ( personally ) and Invidia GPU's ...but that's again just me ~ look up the benefits of parts etc. Edited June 7, 2014 by tactical_surgeon
Praxeti
Thanks for all the help! I am on a budget of £400 by the way. And so far you seem to all be saying nvidia > amd. Hm..
tactical_surgeon
If you want price then stick with AMD

That's what I'm saying. Win7 is more than "alright" and "decent". In my opinion, at least. And I can't say I'm the best informed one about Windows 8 around here. Praxeti
So Win7 beats Win8... hm. Haven't used Win7 In a few years now so can't really remember. And if AMD is cheaper ill probably start with one of them and upgrade to an Nvidia in the future.
Tennonymous
Bigger budget wouldn't hurt, with current one it doesn't really matter is it pre-built garbage or not, wont last long either way.
Insulino
You have big money to spend = NVIDIA + Intel You're on a budget and you want to get the best bang for your buck = AMD FTW And yeah buy the parts yourself it's way cheaper just remember to save your receipts and warranties and you're all good. Sloan441
Nothing wrong with Win8. It's much better than Win7, especially if you have SSDs to deal with. The interface annoys some people but that's easy enough to fix, especially with 8.1. If you're building or buying a new machine, there's no reason not to spring for Win8. I wouldn't bother upgrading a good running Win7 box, but if getting a new one, Win8 is the way to go.

I find it beyond frustrating to navigate on 8 ~ but that's personal preference so just use whichever - they are pretty much equally optimized anyways

Darzk
I would def go for an AMD processor, but I would stick with a nvidea graphics. To save some $$, just grab a card from an older generation. A 460 will run WF on max with physx, but it will struggle a bit. I'd say anything above that should work good.
Sloan441
A lot of your decisions will be driven by what resolution you'll be running at. Hardware to drive 1080p will be much different than what would be required for 2560x1600 or something similar. Also, games don't generally leverage multiple cores well. This is beginning to change, but single threaded performance can be critical--and that means Intel. I haven't seen any metrics of AMD vs. Intel on Warframe, but it's something to consider. Praxeti
So going from this, should I bother getting the pre-built computer and slowly upgrading it or just getting a load of parts and putting them together?

If you are worried that you wouldn't know how to put it together or damage it, paying someone to put it together for you would still be better then buying a all in one type thing
Praxeti
So say I did get the pre built garbage thing, would it be able to run warframe and other games like planetside 2? (probably going towards something else, but if it comes down to this being easier I want to make sure it'll work)
Psychen
I can run Warframe with a laptop mobility radeon 5*** serie, hell I can fully mod Skyrim to make it run with a very good quality. You'll be able to run most things with very good quality, the best way you can assure this is going to the latest games and see their minimum vs recommended specs. That said it's all about how much you're willing to invest. Intel is know to be superior to Amd, for a more expensive investment. In terms of graphics Amd got me on my bad side for not releasing updates to older generations. I ran an Nvidia with half as many problems.
