Grascen Posted June 22, 2014 Share Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) Basically, Heat Sword(s) and Heat Dagger seem to be some of the most interesting elemental melee in the game. This is due to their jump attacks and some combos letting loose cool fire explosions. This is absent on all other melee weapons and has been for much longer than I expected. I figured that by adding elemental damage to weapons like Dark Sword and Plasma Sword, we'd see this implemented. No such luck. The biggest bonus to actually adding an explosion isn't just the bonus damage or the cool look, but the actual visual indicator that you're hitting an enemy. With stuff like Dark Sword/Dagger, you can barely tell that your jump attack did anything. The explosion would also give more visual impact to hitting things with it, thus making a player feel better about getting off those explosions and using something that isn't the D. Nikana. The basic idea would be to add an innate explosion and/or slashing effects to certain melee weapons as a bonus for certain combos, jump attacks, or other things. Ex: Plasma Sword - Gains electric explosions in ways that Heat Sword does Scoliac - Gains visible toxic strikes on some combos, toxic explosions on whip cracks Ether Reaper - Gains Radiation explosions on jump attacks, some combos gain visible radiation slashes Obex - Gains a small electric explosion on slide attacks, electric hits added into existing combos or new combos with it. Not every Elemental Melee needs these tweaks, but a number of them REALLY need a good buff. This would help some weapons become a little more viable.
