Alternate Defence Mode ( Squad Vs Squad )

Hi fellow tennos

As u all know, for defence missions we get to survive waves and waves of enemies defending that poor cryopod.

Now what if there is a bigger map with an invincible wall that you can see through (no skill can target pass this wall, AOE effects does not affect anything pass the wall too.) separating the map in half mirrors one side to another, with a squad on each side defending the their own cryopod.

The gameplay would be the same, defend the cryopod as long as possible but now with an competitor squad on the other side doing the same thing. Now the challenge is to outlast the opponent squad in surviving waves of enemies and the squad which last longer is able to harvest greater rewards than the losing squad.

However, there will be a baseline reward such as certain amount of credits / mods/ bp. as each progress in waves of 5.

Hence, lets say if your squad survives up to wave 7 and yet to reach wave 10, your squad will receive the rewards as of wave 5. The squad that survives longer than the opponent will receive the rounded up reward (if losing squad at wave 7 = rewards of wave 5, winning squad at wave 8 = rewards of wave 10).

This would encourage more teamwork and at the same time u can watch how your opponent handles their wave.

What do u think tennos? Share your ideas too if u think this can be further improved or maybe it can even be implemented in future updates.(*prays*)

I'd fully support this, but i believe the lag would be quite unbearable with 8 players in the same game. Also, having only slightly easier rewards is not much reason for having more players on a defence map who cannot cooperate. This idea could be done the same way with just counters of different squads and their score and waves and have different bonuses for 1st to 5th place or something instead of the added people on a map.

Thats a good point too since there are still some laggy host connectivity issues yet to be fixed. And yea maybe viewing of score board after each wave by pressing the 'view player list' button (ive set mine to tab, similar to playing counter-strike) to check time time taken for squads to complete the wave would be awesome. But players have to be on the mission together in order to get the data sending from one squad to another. And once one of the squad loses, both squads automatically ends the mission and proceeds to 'mission completed' interface to view their rewards.

Nice post Owwy, not to long like mine was, i think half the people read a paragraph and decided to post their opinions based on that :P. Repped.

Thanks :) yea i tried to keep the idea short so ppl wont just see "whoa a whole chunk of text.. TL;DL just skip to last few lines to get the idea" would miss out alot of the ideas inbetween.

also the 4/4 squads with a biomesh glass wall idea, kudos! im pretty sure (or atleast im praying) that well be seeing squad size increased here soon on specific mish's (defences like states)

Same here. Really hope that the squad size would increase so that we can allocate more friends into a squad ( maybe a 6 men squad for higher level planets since low ~ mid ranks are still do-able with 4 pax.

Edit*: and thx for the rep up :D

Nice idea.

But you'd be seeing Nyx. Like frickin' everywhere in Defense. :/

Hell, I'd even bet that the Nyx's would wave at each other lol.

A semi-solution to this would be to add a "smart" mob that is immune or has a chance to resist the effects of chaos/mind control.

Did anybody else think of Enfos team survival from warcraft 3 when reading this suggestion?

+1 to this suggestion, but if i may literally do the exact same thing you could do in enfos team survival.

Each team builds up points over time as the waves go by, and this goes into a pool. The team captain can then summon different enemies to the other team to beat them. Like say...saving up points to summon a stalker, or a boss, or skip through to a super higher level mob.

Yeah if DE devs can create more PVE competitive / mini modes the game will last much longer than the current state of just repeating the same assault-style 6-8 mission objectives forever. Endless Defense (which still needs quite a bit of work in terms of the reward system to keep people playing) is pretty much the only thing you have right now to test yourself if you end up maxing out your guns/frames.

Really like the idea!

But there are some problems.

First of all, the matchmaking and if the game can handle 8 players 2x the enviroment of a defense mission and of course 2x the mobs. (Or perhaps not the game but the PC of the players.)

And what might be my biggest concern, like a lot of people said, why not just grab a group of 4 Nyx and go through the waves.

Well, what I mean, there would be the problem with the team balancing. If only 1 team has a member with a maxed out Rhino with his overcharged Hek and Gram, that can have a huge impact.

That is propably my biggest concern, how do you want to keep the balancing of both teams fair?

Balancing teams isn't always needed if the mode is just intended for random fun. I haven't played competitive PVP shooters in a long time, but back in the day the teams were almost always random unless players switched teams or formed the teams themselves.

The game could have a match making system automatically assign players on teams based on a ranking system and/or equipment level.

Special mobs could always be included that are resistant to certain frame abilities like Nyx's Chaos while a bit weaker to other frame abilities (something I think that should be considered in the whole game (during multiplayer) anyways to allow for more team synergy and difficulty in the game).

First of all i would like to thank you fellow tennos for your feedbacks :)

Exactly what i thought of when i came up with this idea! Just that without the point system for summoning mobs as it might be a little too much to add as im just thinking of new modes to implement based on what we have now.

Hmm i had also thought about this issue if there were a full team of Nyx. Hence this mode has definitely some flaws and exploits where a squad can get tgt a full team of nyx and join this defence mode and basically farm for rare mods/ bp where others would just like to have fun trying out. So such things can't be avoided unless the DE can come up with some balancing system such as max in a squad can only have 2 of the same warframe at any point of time. Ranking wise may not affect as some people might not do a rank up mission hence still being at a certain rank(rank 2 for example if they didnt want to do the rank up mission for rank 3) but having rank 30 warframe and a full rank 30 weapon set.

Thats a good point too having an auto match making system but u may not like the team u are in hence the purpose of 'squad vs squad' mentioned on the title meaning u form up yr own team to test your teamwork with your friends and at least you are able to communicate well if your squad has a voice chat going on.

Or maybe they could implement the user to choose either joining public( auto matchmaking) or squad( only your squad enters), which is similar to 'Online' mode and 'Private' mode.

Keep those feedbacks and suggestions coming :) who knows this might be implemented in the future updates of game modes :D
