On to your question... while there's no "best" weapon for any one class, there are definitely some I would suggest over others. First off, craft a Cronus as soon as you can and sell your stock Skana (unless you'd really like to keep it for upgrades). By "long sword" I'm assuming you mean all weapons not classified as "short" or "heavy". Different long swords do different things. For example, the Dual Heat Swords has the highest charge damage (150 unmodded) and can inflict AoE burn on a jump attack. The Plasma Sword has comparable charge damage and a longer range, as well as a high crit rate. The Bo is for crowd control, the Mire destroys infested.
