Loss (Fanfic)

Sobs.

Great heaving sobs, the kind that wrack a man who's lost his best friend. His leader.

Restrained sobs.

The kind that haunt a woman who doesn't let herself show anything. The kind for a woman who's lost her best friend. THe kind for a woman who's had someone who might've been there for her ripped away and replaced with some automan in his body.

Loyalty.

The kind for something less than a man. A human shell with no mind developed, noting but loyalty to a force that cares nothing for them.

A loyal voice speaks.

"Cease this at once. RHINO, there is no point to these hysterics."

A voice full of steel, with only a hint of the grief behind it.

"Victor, let Reggie do what he wants. Alex is dead."

"I am not Victor. I am VOLT Beta."

A saddened voice. A voice not ready to lose another friend, not ready to accept his old friend is dead.

"Margaret, don't. Just... Give him time to recover his senses."

A snap.

A voice full of fury, a voice beyond caring what happens.

"YOU GODDAMN S#&$BAG I WILL KILL YOU!"

"Calm down, MAG. Tenno should not injure one another."

"YOU LET ALEX DIE! WHATEVER THE HELL YOU ARE, YOU KILLED VICTOR!"

"I did no-"

A sickening crunch. A dull thud as a single, solid piece of metal drops to the ground, crushed together by a magnetic force powered by a fury and grief deep enough to drive one to kill all that's left of one who might've been beloved.

A weak voice. A disbelieving voice.

"Mag... Margaret... What did you just do?"

"I killed him. I killed whatever S#&$ eating corpse stealing #@*&$@ stole Victor's body. And now I'm leaving."

"Margaret, you can't! It's just us. I don't want to be alone."

"I don't care. I can't stand being here one second more. And if I don't leave now, that $#*(@ Lotus will see to it that I die, like Alex. Or that I'm consumed, like-"

A falter in an otherwise steely voice.

"like Victor was."

"Margaret, don't-"

"I'm not Margaret to you anymore. I am Mag. I've killed a fellow Tenno, you haven't. So get out while you can."

"Mar-"

"MAG!"

"..."

"Fine. Mag then. Let me help you, please."

"No."

She turns, ignoring his further pleas. |"Mag, please."

She goes to where the shuttles are kept. |"Please don't go."

Lotus just now begins to shout orders, |"Margaret, don't leave me."

orders to stop, orders for Rhino to kill |"Alex is dead, Victor is dead..."

her, orders for anything. But a brief |"I don't want to be alone, Mag."

wash of magnetic force wipes out |"Margaret."

the comm. The controls to the |"Margaret, PLEASE!"

shuttle are similarly scrambled, and |"Please, I am begging you!"

the female Warframe steps into |"Please." Weak now.

its black embrace. Not caring that |"Don't go." No strength left.

not long ago, this same embrace |"I-" A catch in his voice.

killed her leader. |No words. Only tears.

It leaves, no longer under Lotus's |...

command. |A whisper,

No sign of it stays against the blackness. |"I don't want to be alone."
