My Idea For Warframe's Open Market

This is what I think would be good enough.

The Market

The initial player market page would allow the player to select between all tradeable item categories

Mods

Consumables

Prime BPs & parts

Keys

By clicking on one category, the items would be listed alphabetically (order can be reversed). The total amount of offers and purchases in the last hour would be listed to the side.

Clicking on an item displays teh Item Market List, where the nitty-gritty goes on.

Item Market list:

A graph history of the prices to get an idea of the market.

A list which can display at least 10 different price points:

Ancient Retribution

5000 plat (1 offer)

3000 plat (1 offer)

1000 plat (5 offers)

999 plat(7 offers)

998 plat (12 offers)

10 plat (147 offers)

9 plat (365 offers)

5 plat (47 offers)

3 plat (18 offers)

1 plat (1 offer)

-----

For trade (58 offers)

This list should be sortable:

By cost (highest/lowest first)

By most recent purchase

A history of sales for the last time interval. in this example, the last hour:

4 plat (2 sales)

500 plat (1 sale)

25 plat(50 sales)

For trade (5 sales)

It need not be real-time, but should update fairly frequently, like once a minute.

Sale offer:

The player would be able to set up a target price in plat, or announce the item for trade.

Ancient Retribution

Sale price: X plat

OR

Accept trade offers? (Y/N)

By announcing the item for trade, it would start to accept registering incoming trade offers. The item offered for trade or sale stays up for up to a week, then the sale expires, to prevent stale/overpriced/ridiculous offers from cluttering the server for the remainder of eternity.

The player should be able to set up a small string of text to say what he is interested in.

Purchasing with plat is final. The transaction is 'instant'. It needs only a robust client-server communication transaction so that an item cannot be sold twice for simultaneous bids, or that platinum is lost with no item added to inventory.

Incoming purchase offers

Those are not-platinum based, where tradeable item can be offered as payment. Up to 5 items can be offered.

If the player offers an item as payment, he can still use or trade it, but if the item is traded, all purchase offers it is included into are immediately cancelled.

The purchase offer stays up there until one of the following conditions is satisfied:

a) The sale offer expires because of age, finalized trade or offer withdrawal;

b) The purchase offer is withdrawn by trading one or more of the items offered as payment.

Finalizing the trade:

THe player which set up the sale offer would check every now and then to see if there are any offers. If there is any good enough offer, He would just pick that offer and accept it. After 5 to 10 confirmation boxes (jk) the trade would be finalized.

Buying:

THe Market panel would be straightforward. As the buyer list an item's details in the market (described above), It would have various price points in a list with the amount of offers at each price point.

THe prospective buyer would have a handy box below all offers:

Set up a platinum purchase offer:

Amount of platinum: X plat

In this simple, straightforward manner, the player can put up a purchase offer which stays up for 7 days or until fulfilled/cancelled.

Purchase procurements like this are set up in a first-come, first-served. Oldest purchase requests at the same price point are fulfilled first.

Set up a trade purchase offer:

THe player can click on the trade offers of the item, which show a list of each offer, by oldest first (order can be reversed).

He sees the description of each sale offer set up by each player possessing the item, and sees if any fits what he is willing to give for the item. Then the player clicks on the selling player's trade offer, and selects what he wants to give in exchage for it. Submitting the items sends the offer for the selling player to review, accept and refuse.

Auction house will kill the game iykwim.

^agreed.

auction houses just causes ppl to flood market with prices that they constantly undercut......and assuming auction houses do occur....there will need to be ways to control this price undercutting...that means you will be taxed on your platinum

plat tax is a high possibility with auction house style markets

Yet the majority wants it, according to the hot topics.

^

perspective i suppose.....most of the time i see people voting against the idea of an auction house based trading system

but like i said....in order to control for this type of trading....it will require platinum tax for those sales or some other tax

it will also make it difficult when people want to trade and have multiple things to trade

Do you like the idea of an auction house that is accessible in public player hubs? 73.6% YES

Yes, the perspective of the community. At least the portion which is giving themselves the trouble to answer the poll.

I don't think that a Plat tax is needed, because plat is already 100% minted by DE. If it was a real money market (like Steam, which works wonderfully), then it would have to be taxed.

Of course they could do it, to boost platinum sales, but it had better be a very low tax, since the players have already paid for it. But I think it would have some negative backlash from teh community.

What if de gives everything that can be traded a set plat price. They could easily use the trading website as a way to assign them. So when someone offers another item to trade that items value is subtracted from the plat price. The seller could leave suggestions for mods they would be willing to accept. Downside would be buyers would have to have some plat alot of the time
