The point of this is to buy extra fusion cores that you lack to finish maxing a mod. Which one is better, buying maxed caliber for 400p and 8k credits or buying 300 rare fusion cores, getting 2.4m trade tax on it and then spending 1m more on fusion? It balances out. You could go the way of 1 slot per mastery ranking, or just add 20 slots to the trade screen. And being able to send multiple amounts of of any item - not just fusion cores - in the same slot.
