Deathcube Laser Not Working?

I have only seen my deathcube fire the laser once, and I get into melee range all the time when using it. Is the ability bugged or something?

I had the same problem until i changed the order of the precepts. The order you install precepts (or where you place them I'm not too sure yet since i only have a lv 2 cube atm) seems to affect their priority in usage. I removed all precepts and reinstalled them, putting the laser one first at the top left and this fixed the problem completely, with the laser being placed on top of the list of precepts.

ill try that on my cube...  ive seen the laser a few times and its always an impressive sight..he vaporises em..but ive only seen it half a dozen times

It does specifically mention that it uses it if anything gets 'too close' so yes, you will probably always be in melee range of someone it zaps.
