Can Someone Please Help Me Solve A System Of Equations

i'v been trying to this for an hour and im really lost :/

 

The question is : Solve the following system of equations:

 

x + 2y - z = 5

2x - y + z = 2

y + z = 2

 

iv tried simplifying but i get stuck everytime :/

From the third equation you can get z = 2 - y, apply this to the other equations:

 

x + 2y - (2 - y) = 5

2x - y + 2 - y = 2

 

x + 3y - 2 = 5

2x - 2y + 2 = 2

 

x + 3y = 7

2x - 2y = 0

 

So: x = y.

 

So: 4y = 7

 

y = 1.75

x = 1.75

 

and y + z = 2 -> z = 2 - 1.75 = 0.25
