You thought this thread has no spoilers? Here's one:

Hi.

I'm not really that hyped for the movie and not sure I'll go see it. Why, you may ask? Because the whole film has been spoiled as usual.

1. Harry is a Wizard.

2. Snape kills Dumbledore

5. The clones execute order 69 and turn on The Empire.

4. Yoda dies.

3. Luke is Darth Vader's father.

Now I'm scared to watch it at all, because I know the major plotpoints. Thought?

All I want to see it for is to know if they ever make an attempt to explain Kylo Ren's silly crossguard.

Let me know if they address that point.

Already watched it, and just to tell you

They don't. Yet.

My recommendation to everyone who hasn't watched the new Star Wars yet is to just appreciate the fact it's Star Wars coming back to the big screen. If you start digging too deep into the movie while you're watching, you'll just end up ruining all of your fun.

That order is worse than the release order of the saga :)

See 4 5 6 1 2 3 7... Forget the 1 and probably 2. They never existed.

Spoilers: Vader real name is Anakin SkyWalker

I heard something from Jar Jar Abrams. Or so.

It's because the Lightsaber Crystal was a cracked Kyber Crystal, aka unstable, so it needed some vents in order to not blow up, thus making the Crossguards as vents for the plasma.

This also gave the saber blade the serrated appearance it has

The reason it even has a crossguard has been covered ^

but as to why it's even viable (since people are saying "you could just slice through the hilt"): the hilt itself is made of Cortosis, and thus a lightsaber can't cut through it.
